Students, as well as parents/guardians should check the site regularly. It will be updated with information about the class, quizzes, tests, semester projects, helpful links and news.
Students should obtain flash drives for this course. Flash drives are available from the Computer Science Department. See your teacher for availability and pricing.
Students should obtain a working e-mail address, typing tutor and Microsoft Office for home use. We will be working exclusively with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint throughout the year.
Periods 3, 7, 9. Brain test. Let's test your right brain against the left brain.
Period 2. The more things change, the more they stay the same, my presentation on the the past and future. No guests. If you cross the threshold, you may NOT leave. You will be detained in the classroom for the period.
Due to computer maintenance, computers may not be available this week as we upload new images to the drives. Thank you for your cooperation.
Remember - I don't give grades. You earn them. So, if you're freaking out, you really have no one to blame but yourself. To make matters worse, below you will find your final test of this class.
It was weird year with many strange and interesting personalities putting me on a roller coaster of emotions from energized hope to utter disappointment, from excitable joy to frustrated stress, from fun loving energy to sapped depression. Now, here is my moment to grant some of you my humble appreciation for pushing me to the edge of insanity.
Please note the following excerpt, words of wisdom, from the famed comedian, George Carlin.
We have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, say a kind word to someone, give a warm hug to the one next to you, hold hands and cherish the moment. Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
