it's so rare that the 3rd of a trilogy is
as good as this one.
doesn't even feel like 3 1/2 hrs. (partly b/c i finally
found a cinema in hk that resembles silvercity / tinseltown…i
miss van’s cinema so much!! hk ones are all dirty and old, sticky
floors and small screens, not to mention loud audiences TALKING
ON cells during movie!!)
always get moved when seeing LOTR -- touched by the
magnificent scenes and such great achievements on the movie
screen. i actually
feel chills inside my body (or is it b/c the theatre has too much
air con on?!) and joyous tears in my eyes. (call me emotional,
whatever~).
smeagol is the best actor! (nominated by our smeagol…so funny,
was talking to smeagol on icq about smeagol right after both of
us watched it!)
can’t help smiling when the chinese caption of “my
preciousss" shows up on screen. (hate captions!! i kept on looking at them even though i don’t
need to. although it
really does help a bit when it’s the treebeard or smeagol who’s
talking? yup, you’ve
guessed it, it’s 我的寶貝. sounds familiar?!
aragorn
looks a lot like tom cruise from “the last samurai", whose
trailer was shown before the movie. looking forward to see it. (cal, don’t say it’s a
stupid movie, i’m tom cruise fans man.) glad to see him finally get his hair washed in
the final scene. and
i never knew arwen’s father (head of the elves) is smith! how can i not know that
before?!?!
lotza “animals" in this episode. the flying creatures on which the ringwraiths
rode look exactly like the illustration of the legendary black
dragon (purger is its name rite?) on magic cards. even its head looks like
it. the elephants
reminded me of dynasty warriors 4 from narm man page. danny’ll probably say
that legolas should just climb on and take control of the
elephant and crush the orcs. i’ll say legolas should just shoot the orgs
riding the elephants from afar, no need to climb on, since his
guiding/piercing arrows are so powerful (like amazons in diablo, 玩晒啦).
it’s just a chance for orlando bloom to show off! and of course,
shadowfax…didn’t think it was that beautiful when seeing “the two
towers". but
look at its speed this time!! no wonder it’s the king of horses. kinda disappointed with
brego, aragorn’s horse though. ran away?! and the first reaction i got when i see the
pack of eagles was “wow, lotza 鵰兄!!"
to conclude, the movie shows the strengths and qualities of the
characters in a subtle but convincing way. not like the showy
friendship “we’ll die together" kind of way between the
three in "the two towers", which makes it so much more
easy to swallow.
(even merry and pippin aren’t that despicable anymore.
joseph would have disagreed with me on that for sure.)
