Matchstick Men

not as good as i've expected.  it's not much of a thriller nor is it a comedy.  the supposedly twisted ending hasn't really wowed me as i knew what's going on all along once the shrink came on screen.

the only thing worth my applause is nicholas cage.  (he's the reason i watched this movie in the first place anyways.  his co-stars, sam rockwell & alison lohman, are good too, but a lot less brilliant as compared to him.)  his obsessive-compulsive character is amusing yet a bit sardonic.  he always has a way to make so-so movie worth watching, just like his appearance in "adaptation".  this is what i call good acting.

well, don't watch this movie if you're looking for a thriller or the sort of movie that keeps you guessing.  it has a theme to it though.  there's always something in life (different for different people) that you can't live without, even if you don't realize it at the very moment.  you'll regret having forfeited it and will give everything to earn it again if you got the chance.
