While striking 7 the clock strikes its first gong at 7 o'clock and it strikes 6 more at regular intervals . These 6 intervals take 7 seconds so that the intervals between gongs is 7/6 sec . However ,to strike 10 there are 9 intervals each taking 7/6 seconds for a total of 10.5 seconds.

A number of cats got together , and killed 391 mice .Every cat killed an equal number of mice .And each cat killed more mice then there were cats. So,How many catsdo you think there was ( It is not that ,one cat killed the lot since I use the word cats and also it is not like that 391 cats killed one mouse ,since I use the word mice ) ?

Just one look at the no. 391 and we know that it cannot be a prime no. And if the problem has to have only one answer ,this no can have only two factors .The factors are 17 and 23 both of which are prime no. We know that each cat killed more mice than there were cats , and therefore the correct answer , is 17 cats and 23 mice.

Let's assume that the man and the train normally meet at the crossing at 10 a.m ,Then the usual time of the cyclist at the bend is 10 a.m and he is 6 miles behind at 9.30 a.m But when the cyclist is late ,he arrives at the bend at 10.25 a.m and therefore he is six miles behind at 9.55 a.m Since the train takes 5 minutes to travel 6 miles run .The speed of the train is 72 miles per hour .
