Speaking to the Sins of a City

While passing through LA en route to Brazil, there has been some first requests to speak into the city of L.A. In the Old Testament, before repentance, revival, or judgement, the Lord would publicly speak to the sins of a city or nation. Prophecy at a city-wide or nation-wide level must be academically credible, as the issues of 21st century postmodern culture are complex. It must also be theologically sound as well as being the word of the Lord for the moment. The last years of study on these issues have enabled some ability to interpret LA as a centre of the postmodern in between the collapsing Western modern society and the future global society. The Lord touched many with a spirit of sorrowful repentance and action this week.

It was a joy to speak to about 150 Servant-Partners interns as to the nature of the US side of this mission as a prophetic/ apostolic movement of reconciliation and purity in such a city. And to talk with several who are moving on to the destitute places of some Asian and North African cities.

Entering Rest

As we enter our Sabbath year, we have come quietly into Brazil for a few weeks of rest for Ieda and myself. In the past, every day in Brazil has been in meetings with city leaders and urban poor pastors. On the Sabbath, you let grow what grows of itself. So tomorrow its off to the beach for a week at Ieda's brothers home. The kids are right into Portuguese. We take turns to manage their morning home schooling under a shelter on the house roof. I've spent three days rewiring and furnishing an upstairs room on the roof of her mother's house as an office.

Pray

For right schools for the younger kids in LA - God has answered your particular prayers with a scholarship for Monique to a top girls school for gifted kids. Pray also for a scholarship for Ieda.

For the right ministry base in LA - I have had discussions with several key leaders, but wait for the right combination of roles - serving in a church, or teaching urban issues or research part time in order to develop the global and citywide prophetic with the rest of my time, while Ieda studies.

For Sharon Barton as she develops the New Zealand office, and works on the ethnic leaders hui in partnership between ULF and New Covenant.
