Alright, let's get to know the guitar! ^_^
there are four strings on a basic bass guitar.
they are the G string (1st string in the picture), the D string, the A string and the E string (4th string in the picture).
Bass guitars always have a longer Neck than guitars.  That's why you can always find Jiro's Bass a bit "taller" than Hisa's or Takuro's guitars. *^_^*
As for the Scale Length (which is the length of the strings), there are the shorter Scale (30 inches) and the Longer Scale  (34 inches).  Girls with smaller hands may feel more comfortable on the Shorter Scale ね.

The electric bass was conceived as a four-stringed instrument, but basses are now available in 5, 6, 7, 8, even 12 string configuration.
I would want to see Jiro playing a 12 string Bass..... *^_^*
