Software: Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0---Help
Publisher: Macromedia Inc.
Merits
1. "Dreamweaver 4 Guided Tours"," Dreamweaver 4 Lessons", and "Dreamweaver 4 Tutorial" are user-friendly software with animated graphics. The programmes allow users to learn common tasks quickly by following interactive steps. They also illustrated how to use Dreamweaver and listed steps of creating a Web page for users to follow.
2. The content is grammatically correct and is written in simple language.
3. It also links up with the Web sites of Macromedia Dreamweaver for easy online reference.
4. "Reference" in Help functions as a dictionary which includes O'Reilly's HTML,CSS and JavaScript Reference for quick reference. One could learn about the specific languages for creating Web pages by oneself.
Shortcomings
1. The window of the Tours, Lessons and Tutorial always float on the top of the Dreamweaver It would be better if they are shown in a frameset which would not block the screen when the user is prastising or creating Web pages.
2. The size of the Browser is fixed. It would be best if it could be resized by the user from time to time for easy reference.
3. It assumes that users have got basic knowledge in Web design. One should know about some keywords such as "Target", "Link", and understands how a web site is hyperlinked to another. Thus, users who are new to Web design would have encounter some difficuties.
