Paul Noble James


Paul Noble James, born in 1917 is a third generation American Painter, who’s grandfather was W.Harry Smith, who was part of the Old Lyme School of American Impressionism.

Paul being a third generation painter of a very prominent family of artists and surrounded by great talent, perfected his talents which are inherint and paints predominently American, New England landscapes and Genri paintings. Pauls work is shown in Art Galleries in New England, Florida and North Carolina.


His grandfather, W. Harry Smith, (1875-1951) who is listed in Fieldings and Who’s Who in American Art, is very prominent and his work sells for great amounts of money.


Hugh Knight Smith (B1906 ) and Paul Devon Smith (1908-1994) , his uncles were also pre-eminent American painters and their works also sell for large sums of money.


Pauline Montague (Polly), (1905-1962) also very renowned for her paintings, was married to Paul Devon Smith.
