"San Fran & The Pogonip, Santa Cruz, California"July '06

"San Fran & The Pogonip, Santa Cruz, California"
San Fransico's famous Golden Gate Park, with it's long stretch of land holds many spirits. One area is the hill's and gardens of the park, not far from the entrance on the Haight. At night whispering and strange things appear.
In the Hills of the Santa Cruz state park, The Pogonip, is said to be haunted... During the Warm, yet foggy cool nights, I experienced many strange occourences there. I lack pictures of the experience however. Knowledge found was of the place being inhabited from natives to Christian Monistary people. Many locals say the place is haunted because of the Mystery Spot near by(which some say is a hoax). Also to mention, The Movie "Lost Boys" was filmed in this city. The "Lost Boys" house is located in the Pogonip. Maybe directors knew something was up there. Even if not, the cold foggy San fran-like nights prove you can see anything through the shadows. This is definately a place to check out. The main experience, possibly paranormal, was that of such shadow creatures lurking the woods at night. During the day time, while hiking around the almost vertical hills and the river below the hills, I possibly felt a Spirit Watcher. As the place seemed to be mystical and protected.

Sept. 3rd '04-"1,000 Steps" Spokane, Washington
Remember that Greenwood, as other haunted places, is private property and that these stairs are deemed dangerous and otherwise unlawful to entrance. If you could get clearance, you won't get in trouble for trespassing!
In the city of Spokane, this was one of my favorite places to check out for supernatural powers.
Many other places exist throughout the city:
Patsy Clark's Mansion- Browne' Addition
*such as the old stem plant area, downtown. The tunnels once used to pour stem into the city for heat-Spokane is much set up like Seattle where it was built up from the river, it has a hollow underground lair.
* The Patsy Clark Mansion(Browne's Addition) is haunted-I've experienced this just outside of it, seeing strange shadows in the windows.
* The (will remain nameless) Apts., downtown Spokane, where a brutal murder of a young girl happened in the basement, she was then served as food to the tenants. -She came to me and told me what happened in a dream-
* Numerous other local cemeteries, schools, and churches(Knox Pres. Church) are included. Now onto the Steps...
"1000 Steps", aka the old entrance to Greenwood Memorial Terrace cemetery is said to be haunted.
It is listed and has stories about being one of Spokane Washington's haunted places to visit. On my first visit, during the afternoon, I took pictures. These pictures illustrate the way up the stairs. This is so you can see the area, which may be helpful if you go there at night. Many haunting stories surround this sight. Ones which I havn't experienced myself, because i havn't been there at night yet. You can see the links to the sites that have night experiences below. I'll post my night experience probably soon. It's best to experience at night! Directions on how to get there are at the bottom.
The daylight tour of the steps:
The pathway up from the side of the street isn't that hard to find. Now, especially since there is pink spraypaint-with some numbers- right by where the path is. You can actually see a path from the side of the road. *During the winter you can see the steps pretty clearly* If you walk beyond a few bushes this is what you will see:
The bottom stairs have collapsed since the cemeteries construction in the 1880s. These stairs were the original entrance to Green wood cemetery. The legends name suggests "1000 steps" however they weren't counted.
Carefull climbing the first set of stairs. They felt like they were going to collapse.
Here is the end of the first set of steps leading up.
To the left side you can see a bit of a clearing, and Greenwood's lower half off in the distance. On the right, just more trees and brush. If you turn around, facing the street, you can see Riverside cemetery...
After the second staircase you will be climbing the final one...
This last staircase is pretty much destroyed at the last steps. Careful climbing up...you will have to climb...
At the end of the broken stairs you will come across a graffitied crypt.
From either side upon being on top, you will be able to spot the way back down...
Graves on the left side, facing the stair path.
Here you will see graves from the 1880s... into the 1990s. Some are even of Priests.
Looking into the from of the crypt.
The crypt has since been empty...
The crypt in the distance as a landmark back down the steps.
This section of the cemetery is middle hill on the way to the top- which has the newer graves.
A view from a section of that part of the cemetery...
Before you reach the top, in the stairs area, there's supposed to be a gated off cave. I'm guessing that is on the right side when heading up the stairs.
The experience...
Nothing really stange was senced this because fo it being daytime. The only wierd thing that happened was my camera was acting up. Though, I doubt this was because of a magnetic disturbance. The last last pictures that I took didn't come out because of the camera problem.
If you're interested here are the directions...
You're looking for the old staircase at:
211 N Government Way
Spokane, WA 99224 --- of which is just a bit north of 211 N.
Head north on Government way, which is down he way from SFCC. "1,000 steps", is just past Greenwood Terrace and across from Riverside cemetery, so it's kind of inbetween the two. The best way to find it is to park and walk on the left side of the road. You can park in Greenwood, before dusk, or if you can find another spot. Once you get past the paved road part of the cemetery/where the stones end, you will almost be there. Not too far you will notice pink spraypaint of numbers on the side of the road/pavement, so basically look to the left. There you will see a path leading up, beyond the bushes. Climb the path and you will see the broken stairs.
A SPECIAL TREAT!
