Dewlap |
Like the Spines, the Dewlap is used to make the iguana appear larger. An iguana does something called head-bobbing which is used as a territorial display. When an iguana head-bobs it extends its dewlap and stands tall. A large head-bobbing male can be very intimidating. When a predator approaches an adult iguana will extend its dewlap, laterally flatten its body and head-bob, it may even open its mouth and "hiss". |
