River Petroglyph Panel, near Bluff

The River Petroglyph Panel overlooks the San Juan river. We've considered rafting on the San Juan, but with research we found we could hike to many of the rock art and ruins featured on rafting trips. The River Petroglyph Panel is one of the sites. The trail from the carpark to the River Petroglyph panel is a little more than 1 mile along lower Butler Wash.

Hiking to River Petroglyph Panel

Part of the trail follows a wagon trail built in 1908-1910. On the trail to the San Juan River, we saw some rock art, inaccessible ruins and cliff swallow nests.

We've also heard this called Kachina Panel. The River Petroglyph Panel overlooks the San Juan River and has hundreds of petroglyphs spanning hundreds, if not thousands of years. We had planned to hike past the River Petroglyph Panel, but we spent too much time gawking at the panel.
