If
to you my heart I could not trust,
I should rather place it in His hands;
Without
whose will a wounded heart can mend,
Or a lost and searching soul can be found.
If
there be anyone can take your place,
And make me happy tho' I ache;
Let
him come,
And take me away from this weary land.
If
there be anyone who'll take me as I am,
Let him come,
Before
I go away into the silent ground.
If only true affection was felt, not alone compassion;
Then
I would still be in a dream
Where you and I are eternally living as one.
Surely
to love is sweet;
Sweeter than the sweetest wine.
Tho'
mine can be thine,
Yours cannot be mine.
This
love, to you was laid bare
With no true response.
And
hopeless I may seem,
Yet heaven's not too far.
Yea,
my hope hangs,
But soon it will wane
If
someone will not come and rescue this heart o'mine. |
