No matter how long she was married to Fox, she never got tired of watching him sleep. Their bed was underneath a big picture window and every morning, the sun shone through just perfectly. Perfectly enough to compliment the little bits of blonde hair in her husband's light brown hair. Perfectly enough to shine on his face and make him look like angel that he was. Her angel. Fox looked so peaceful. So at rest. She remembered the times before they were even dating when he would come to her looking for comfort and safety from his nightmares. She had never seen nightmares affect someone’s awake-state as they had Fox’s. He constantly looked tired and bothered. Looking at him now, she felt responsible for for all of that going away. She was his rock and she knew it. She stared at him even more intently now. Taking notice of the way his upper-lip curled up just slightly, as if he were subconciously trying to do that god-awful Elvis impression of his. She giggled softly and just took in his being. She loved how content he looked. He opened his eyes. "Good morning, sunshine." "Hello, you." He replied groggily. "How did you sleep?" "On my left side for about three hours, on my right for about seven, and then on my back for...what time is it now?" "You’re so cute, Fox." She replied, somewhat sarcastic. "I knew that there was a reason why you married me. Because you think I’m cute. That’s all. Love nothing to do with it." She leaned down and kissed him softly. When she pulled away, she said: "You’re absolutely right. The fact that I, oh, say, love you had nothing to do with it." He smiled and reached up to caress her face. "Nothing at all." "It’s a gorgeous Saturday morning. What do you want to do?" "I want to take a shower with my beautiful wife, come back to this bed and make love in the sunlight." She kissed him deeply and ran her hand over his washboard stomach. She loved the way he was just so romantic. So thoughtful. He constantly made her feel loved. The fact that he always wanted her, wanted to spend time with only her, always wanted to make love to her, did more for her than anything else in their relationship. Maybe it was odd to feel that way, but it was how she felt. It was what made her feel more and more complete every day that she woke up beside him. She literally thanked God everyday that he was hers. In the shower, he traded places with her because it was his turn to wash her off. He placed her underneath the water and turned the heat up a notch. She smiled as he worked the water through her hair. Once that was done, he turned his back to her and reached for the shower organizer that hung on the wall. "Tell me, lover, what kind of shampoo would you like?" For a brief, very brief, moment, she shuddered inside. Fox’s voice was so soft, so smooth and he briefly sounded like Donnie Pfaster. She dismissed that and reminded herself that that had been eons ago and she was safe now. She wrapped her arms around his skinny waist and hugged him to her. "How about baby powder scented?" she said. He picked up the blue bottle, squeezed a small portion in his hand and put the bottle back where it belonged. He rubbed the shampoo into his other palm and turned to begin working on her hair. "You know, Dana," he began, sounding like a man who had a lot on his mind but wanted to choose his words carefully. He wanted to ask her-no, tell her that he wanted to make another baby with her. He wanted to tell her that he felt like they were ready and that they would be parents this time. There would be nothing to worry about. But this had been, and still was at times, a very touchy subject with his wife. Still, he couldn’t give up trying. He wanted-no, he needed a family. And he wanted that with her and only her. "Yes, Fox?" she answered, leaning further into the hot water. He leaned down and kissed her earlobe as he rinsed the shampoo out of her hair. "I love you, Dana Kathrine Mulder." She smiled "I love you, too, Fox." He rinsed the shampoo out of her hair and spoke slowly. "Dana...you know, honey, it's been four years...all of our problems are behind us...our cancer-ridden friend...the doctors...all of that is behind us now. Dana, please...lets make another baby." She stared back at him;unable to believe that he could ask that of her. She had asked him time and time again to give her time: to give her a chance to recoup. And no matter what she said, it just seemed like he could never understand that she was still hurting more than he. She turned the water off and stepped out. "Where are you going?" he asked her. "I have to get out of here, " she grabbed a nearby towel and headed for the bedroom closet, he did the same and followed close behind her. "No, Dana. You have to stay. This isn't like you to run. We need to come to a point where we can discuss this without you running. Why can't you stay?"
