How tell the FastTrack client, that it should find a file with a certain signature? kewbase from MuSeekster had the basic idea, he stopped a download, took the .dat file and put it on his web page. he called it startfile, because everybody who want's to download the corresponding file from p2p, only has to take this ".dat" and put it into his "My Shared Folder" and Morpheus starts downloading exactly the same file as soon as it's found. ("Most genious", I would say). Once the idea was born, the next steps were rather easy done - with help from AYB. Just looking a bit for what the FT client is actually searching showed, that the significant thing is only the signature, especially as it turned out, that these signatures were stored in this data1024/256.dbb files, located in the DB folder of the client folder. Putting this signature anywhere on the web or posting it to discussion boards are either a simple way to spread information about shared files. It only takes a tool to do this, i call it sig2dat, which has 2 functions, it calculates a signature for a file which you can publish and can make a dat file out of a signature (UUHAsh). This dat file is placed in "My Shared Folder" and starts downloading, as soon as it is found. Looks good, ain't it? Where to get this tool? >>>> (Hey! Some of the Napsterites already tried it!) |
