Objective:              To understand how society has transformed over time.  To understand how various types of groups exist within society and are important to all societies.     

Activities:            

  1. review last test
  2. part 1 of Log #06 marketing
  3. Teacher intro to chapter 06
    1. Discuss chart on page 149- The Social Transformation of Society
    2. Students complete chart on the various types of societies using pages 148-153 ( 5 point assignment)
    3. Discussion to follow

Objective:              To understand how group dynamics can changes based on the size and make up of a group.            

Activities:            

  1. students will complete Log #6 marketing
  2. students copy down terms about Groups within Society from 153- 161 in their notebooks and then comes up with three examples for each about themselves

Lesson:                  03

Objective:              To understand how group dynamics can changes based on the size and make up of a group.  To understand what groupthink is and how powerful it can be.     

Activities:            

  1. ANTICIPATORY SET:  HOW MANY RELATIONSHIPS exist for each of the following group sizes 2,3,4,5,6.  Make a general statement about how the group grows in size.
  2. Teacher instructs on the following topic: Group Dynamics
    1. Text pages 161-167
    2. Group size and stability
    3. Leadership styles
    4. Power of Peer Pressure “The Asch Experiment”

Objective:              To understand what groupthink is and how powerful it can be.

Activities:            

  1. Possible quiz on MC or T/F online questions
  2. Teacher introduces the idea of Groupthink
    1. Students read pages 168-169
    2. Students work together in small groups
