These pages are screenies of rendered scenes using 3D Modellers. I may add some movies too, but those take up a lot of Megabytes.
These aren't necessarily for games (low poly count). I prefer high detail scenes myself.
I have used 3D Studio Max's own renderer for these.

A scene of a neighboorhood. There is a trash can with some fire for some reason. Doing a good looking fire is a big challenge. There is a white cat behind the building, near the fence. There is a yard with some trees. There is one of those mazout containers as well (left). There is some water on the ground. It has been given refractive/reflective properties. When I rendered the scene from certain directions, the water looked more yellow, making it look like the cat had something to do with it.

An apple generated with a curve, then it's geometry displaced with a noise function and shaded with a complex material that gives it that color.

A GIF animation of a 2D vortex. A procedural texture of a swirl is applied and animated for the effect. It's an alternative to actually using geometry to create the swirl of a vortex.

After seeing some commercials about natural gas (very nice commercial entirely CGI with dancing flames and such), I decided to try the same effect.
We have some geometry and the fire is done with th aid of volume rendering of a fire object, with some careful color tuning.

A Star Trek like scene. These would be the corridors of some space ship. The corridors have fluorescent lighting at the base of the walls which project light upwards and the light bounces around for good lighting.
