Chapter 4

"Toshiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

The plate that was originally in Toshiya's hands dropped onto the floor and turned into a pile of shattered substances, and before he could do anything, he could already feel her clinging onto him.

"Toshiyaaaa... Die hurt me yesterday." She sniffed. "My back hurts!! My legs hurt!! Everywhere hurts!! Toshiyaaaaaaa!!!"

"W... what am I supposed to do?"

"Give me a massage later."

The door opened, and Shinya walked in with a bucket. His eyes dropped onto the ground at the sight in front of him. Saori looked at him and then a bright smile appeared on her face.

"Shin-chan!"

"Hai."

"Die-chan's still sleeping, why don't you go and wake him up, ne?"

"But I..."

"Go!"

Shinya nodded quickly and dropped the bucket to hurry to Die's bedroom. He knocked on the door and then remembered that Die was sleeping, so it was useless. He opened the door slowly and walked in. True to Saori's words, he was still lying on the bed. He made his way over to the bed quietly.

"Die-sama..."

No response.

"Die-sama..." Shinya raised his voice a bit.

No response.

He reached out and patted his shoulder. "Die-sama, please wake up."

Die groaned and turned on the bed, the sheet that was covering him slipped as he turned. Shinya gasped at the bare skin and quickly closed his eyes in embarrassment. Why did Saori-sama send him to do this? Die looked around without even bothering to cover himself, he looked beside him, Saori wasn't there anymore. Then he looked towards his other side and only saw Shinya's back.

"What are you doing here?"

Shinya slowly turned with his eyes on the ceiling. "S..Saori-sama wanted me to wake you up."

"Where is Saori?" He sat up and stretched. "And why are you looking up at the ceiling?"

"S... she's downstairs."

"Get me my bathrobe."

"Hai." Shinya quickly grabbed the bathrobe that was hanging on the back of a nearby chair and passed it to Die.

Die grabbed the bathrobe and stood up to get dressed. Once again, Shinya turned quickly and looked up at the ceiling. Die raised an eyebrow at his behavior and a teasing grin appeared on his face. "What's wrong Shinya? We have the same assets, why are you so shy?"

Shinya felt his face turn as red as Die's hair. He quickly turned and buried himself in making the bed. Die snickered and walked into the bathroom. When the door closed, Shinya let out a breath and felt his cheeks. They were burning hot. And his heart was beating at an irregular pace.

Slowly, he made the bed, and then moved to collect all the clothes that were scattered everywhere on the floor. Soon enough, Die exited the bathroom with water dripping.

"Die-sama, breakfast should be ready." Shinya was still not brave enough to look at his face. Die nodded and the two of them made their way out of the bedroom. The first thing they saw was Saori hanging all over Toshiya and the latter one's nervous look.

"Ne, Totchi! Let's go out today... or.... no.... we should stay in today and you can give me a full body massage."

"Saori..."

Saori whirled around and saw Die heading down the stairs; she smiled at Shinya's red face. "Ah, Die-chan, you're up."

"Stop harassing Toshiya."

"I am not!" Saori objected immediately.

Die looked at her for a moment longer before looking at Toshiya. "Toshiya, go do your work."

"Hai." Toshiya bowed and ran off.

"Tosh...." Saori trailed off when she saw Die's look.

"Anou... breakfast will be ready soon." Shinya bowed and quickly left as well.

It was then just Die and Saori in the dining room. Saori coughed awkwardly and looked at Die. "So Die-chan, how did you wake up? Wasn't it nice?" She beamed at him.

Die glared at her and walked to the living room sofa to sit down. Saori winced and followed after him. "What? I was being nice! Isn't it nice to look at Shin-chan's face in the morning? It's very refreshing! I mean, much better than mine, considering you've been seeing my face for the entire night..."

"Will you shut up?" Die mumbled while he lit a cigarette.

Saori took the cigarette from his mouth as soon as he lit it. "You're going to hurt your stomach if you smoke without eating." And then crashed it in the ashtray.

Die glared at her while she just smiled sweetly, they could hear Shinya saying that breakfast was ready. "Let's go to breakfast now." She grabbed his hand and pulled him along. "Don't make such a scary face; you look much better when you're smiling."

And so they had breakfast together, the day started off normally. Shinya still had trouble looking at Die in the face, and Saori's smile whenever she saw him was enough to send him wishing that he could go and crawl into a hole some where. Die had his work to worry about after breakfast, as soon as Die left; Saori dragged Toshiya upstairs for that massage. Shinya was left alone in the kitchen to clean up.

Nanako walked into the silent living room, she just loved how this room looked. However, perhaps this room didn't like her as much, as whatever she touched, she broke. When Shinya hurried to her, he saw her standing there with her hand covering her mouth, and then she looked at Shinya, whom was equally just as stunned.

"Daddy, I....."

"It's okay..." Shinya knelt down to look at the broken shards. What was he to do this time?

"Is something wrong?" Saori walked out from the bedroom and emerged at the top of the stairs with Toshiya behind her, his hands were greasy from the massage oil. Shinya looked up at her with wide eyes while Nanako just burst out crying.

"Nana-chan, what's wrong?"

"Onee-chan, I'm sorry!! I didn't mean to break it."

"I... I'll try to fix it…“ Shinya said uncertainly.

Saori patted the little girl's head and looked at the mess. "What was it?"

"I don't know, but it was on the table."

Saori took a look at the box that was on the table and then huffed. "Don't worry about it, just clean it up." She then turned and walked upstairs again.

"But... Saori-sama... what was it?"

"Oh, some crystal vase I think." She shrugged carelessly. "Totchi, let's return to the massage."

After the door closed, Nanako sniffed and tears came out. "I'm sorry, daddy."

"It's okay honey." Shinya hugged the little girl and looked at the mess. What was he going to do? This was the second time... he couldn't possibly just let it escape again...

No matter what... he wrapped up the mess and grabbed the box that it came in. After settling Nanako down for her afternoon nap, Shinya left the house with the vase wrapped up.

However, the store clerk did not give him good news.

“… It’s that expensive?"

"Of course, this is pure crystal." The store clerk awed at the broken pieces.

Shinya bowed his head slowly and left. What was he going to do? He couldn't go back and let Nanako get yelled at by other people. Passing by the street, he saw a barber shop and an idea popped into his head. He touched his long hair and then looked at the barber shop again and made up his mind. Hair could be grown again.

He walked into the barber shop and when he looked at the reflection in the mirror and the scissors that were lined up nicely in front of him. His hair that he had been growing since the day he met Kyo; it fell around him like snow flakes and landed on the ground. It was as if he was saying farewell to his old life.

It was night when Shinya returned to the house, he clutched the vase case tightly to his chest and made his way into the house, he was stopped when he passed the dining room.

"Where were you?"

Shinya turned and saw that everyone was at the dinner table; Die was looking at him with an unreadable look. Saori smiled immediately. "Die-chan was so worried about you! He kept on asking where you were."

"I... I'm sorry." Shinya bowed. "I had to and... because my daughter broke your vase, so I had to go and buy another one...."

Die and Saori looked at him when he placed the vase on the table. Saori looked at the vase and then looked up at Shinya, the fork in her hand slipped and nearly landed on her thigh. "WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU HAIR!!?”

".... I... I had to cut it...."

"... Why did you have to cut your hair?" Die's brain was still too shocked to function.

"Be... because the vase was too expensive, I didn't have enough money, so I could only sell my hair to fill in the rest of the money."

"Poor Shin-chan." Saori stood up to touch his hair. "I loved your hair." Then she pinned a glare at the vase that was on the table. "But you still look amazing with your hair cut." She patted his face.

Die rubbed his forehead; he could feel the throbbing vein. Saori and Shinya looked at him with awkward faces.

"Shinya. Don't ever do anything without asking first, do you understand?" Die said coldly.

"... Hai...."

Saori looked at Die then quickly turned to Shinya. "He... he means that he didn't like the idea of you cutting your hair. He must have liked your hair too." Shinya looked at her with a shocked face.

"Saori!"

"Anou... why don't you go rest in your room? Toshiya will do the work; you look too tired to do anything tonight, okay?" Shinya nodded and excused himself. Saori looked after him and turned back to Die with a frown. "And you couldn't have said that nicer?"

Die sighed at the way this conversation was going to go.

"You know he did that because he didn't want you to yell at him! And you just did that even after he bought that stupid vase! You're so fucking insensitive! And heartless!"

"Are you calling me insensitive?" He raised his voice.

"Who else would I be calling insensitive, you idiot! Go apologize to him!"

"Apologize? Apologize to a servant? You must be joking!"

"What's wrong with apologizing to a servant?" She pulled at his hair with frustration. "You're such a...!!!" She couldn't even find a word to describe him

Die freed his hair from her hand and slapped her hand away. "Don't touch me like that, bitch!"

"You asshole!" She kicked him instead. "How dare you call me a bitch?" She grabbed his arm and bit wherever.

Die pushed her off immediately, his hand curled around a ball of her hair. "Stay away from me, you fucking whore."

"Anou... Saori-sama... Die-sama...." Toshiya started. This was not something unusual, but...”

"Stay out of this!" She slapped Die's hand away quickly. "You always act like this! Just because I said something that's true and you don't like it, you turn violent! You want to try who can be more violent!" She turned and grabbed a pile of magazine off of the table and threw them at him.

Die covered his face as the magazines hit his arm and fell onto the ground. He then looked at Saori and stood up. Saori turned and ran in the opposite direction, but it wasn’t long before he caught her by the hair. "Turn violent, huh? You want to see how violent I can get?" Die hissed.

He spun her around and she ducked her head and covered her face, then she let out a loud scream. "RAPE!!!!!!"

Die felt his eyes twitch and he pushed her away to head upstairs. Saori huffed and finger brushed her hair a bit. "Bastard." She then made her way back into the dining room; Toshiya was cleaning up the mess of magazines on the floor.

"Sorry Totchi, could you clean up here?" Saori patted his head. Toshiya stood up and looked at her.

"Saori-sama...."

"Don't worry about it, Die and I are always like this." She smiled and hugged him. "Mmmmmmmmm... can I sleep with you tonight?"

"..... annou....."

"Fine." She moved back and patted his cheek. "I'm going to check on Shin-chan, and then go to sleep. You should go to bed early too; you can leave the dishes for tomorrow."

"Hai."

Saori turned and headed towards Shinya's room. In the darkened room, there was only a small night light. Saori tip-toed towards Shinya's bed and looked at him. Nanako's curled up in his arms and they were both fast asleep. Saori smiled and kissed both of their foreheads. "Good night."

Die was sitting in the bedroom, on the bed, smoking his cigarette. Then door opened and Saori came in, he looked at her in surprise, he didn't expect her to come so quickly. ".... Are you here to apologize? I forgive you."

Saori starred at him with wide eyes. "What the fuck are you on?" She asked. "Why the hell should I apologize to you! My hair still hurts from you pulling at it! My legs and back hurt from yesterday! You should be the one that's to apologize!"

"I'm not apologizing to anyone."

"Fucker."

"Fuck off!"

Saori gritted her teeth and spoke with a very annoyed tone. "Andou Daisuke, you better start apologizing right now. I have an amazing urge to rip your balls out."

Die hissed and stood up to shove Saori up against a wall, her wrists were pinned underneath his hands. "Do you know who you're speaking with?"

"Yeah! The insensitive, heartless, fucking selfish Andou Daisuke whom I hate the most!" Saori yelled out in one breath.

Die backed off and released her.

Saori rubbed her wrists and looked up at Die, whom was looking at her with a somewhat hurt look. She sighed and stopped rubbing her wrists. Instead, she walked up to him and hugged him around the waist. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that. You know I don't hate you."

Die closed his eyes and hugged her back tightly, and then he pulled away and kissed her forehead. "... I'm sorry."

Saori giggled and looked up at him. "You better be! I'm still hurting!" She pouted playfully and moved away from him. "Anyways, I'm going to go and take a shower."

Die watched her disappear into the bathroom and his mind drifted back to the person that used to have long long hair.

Later that night...

"Sao..."

"Shut up and go to sleep if you don't want me to rip your balls out."

"But! I already apologized to you!"

"But you didn't apologize to Shinya yet! And my body hurts from yesterday!" She sat up and then pulled down her shirt to show him her red skin. "See the bite marks! You monster!"

Die's eyes trailed down and there was a moment of silence.

"Look at the bite makes!! Not my chest!!" She yelled.

Die looked at the bite marks scattered on her body; he bit his lips and pinned her down onto the bed.

"Get off!" Saori objected and tried kicking.

Die dodged the kick and leaned on her quickly to claim her lips.

"Hmphhhh!!!" She struggled under his hold. "Die!!" She succeeded in pushing him away and quickly shoved him off of her. "Daisuke you horny bitch! Get out!"

"... Aren't you supposed to be my girlfriend?"

"Doesn't mean I like getting forced every night."

Die starred at her for a long time before he leaned down again. Saori closed her eyes and opened her mouth. "TOSHIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!"

Die moved back due to the loud volume.

"Get out! Get out!"

Die stumbled and dodged whatever that was thrown at him and quickly got out of the door. Toshiya was standing on the other side of it and he looked at the scene with wide eyes.

"Sleep in the guest room tonight! And then maybe you can control some of your hormones!" Saori yelled before slamming the door in their faces. She then leaned back onto the door and exhaled heavily. This was definitely harder than she thought.

If Die was going to behave like this every single night, then how could she sleep with him and say that she was helping Shinya at the same time? Maybe she needed to move out. However, what she decided to do can come later, right now, she needed sleep desperately.

And to no surprise, Die was not in a good mood the next morning. Saori rolled her eyes and ate her breakfast contently. Shinya slowly made his way to the table and glanced at Die fearfully.

"Die-sama..."

"What is it?"

"I was wondering if you could give me some time off so I can go look for a school for Nana-chan?"

Saori and Die both lowered their utensils and looked at him.

"School?" Saori twirled a strand of hair around her finger. "You want Nana-chan to go to school?"

Shinya bowed his head and nodded. "Yeah... after what happened yesterday... I think it'd be best if she went to school."

"I know a school." Die commented.

"Which is?" Saori glanced at him.

"Liberty Acadamy."

Shinya's eyes widened and he shook his head quickly. "Iie Die-sama, that school is way too expensive, I can't afford it."

"Who said anything about you paying?" Die turned to Saori. "You're not doing anything today, go register with them. Take my card."

Saori nodded and raised an eyebrow towards Shinya, whom still looked baffled at this. "Die-sama, really, it's okay, I can just find..."

"Shut up and take it."

Shinya quieted down immediately and bowed his head. "Hai..."

Saori smiled and tapped her chin. "Isn't Die-chan so sweet? You could totally fall in love with him so easily, ne?" She said to Shinya with a mischievous smile.

Shinya's eyes widened and he quickly turned away. "Anou... I just remembered that Toshiya needed my help in the kitchen..."

Saori's smile widened as she watched Shinya flutter away in embarrassment. At the back of her head, she should feel Die's glare pinned onto her.

Liberty Academy is a prestige school for either gifted children or children of the rich. The school was built a hundred years ago, it originally started off as a castle. The three of them walked up to the large gate, Shinya and Nanako were clearly in awe with the size of the school.

They waited until the gates rolled open and it was more walking to get to the receptionist office.

"Alright, please fill in this form and state the sponsor." The lady at the front desk handed Saori a clipboard with a form clipped onto it.

Saori walked back and sat down beside Shinya and Nanako, together they filled out the form and when it came to the sponsor's name, Shinya's hand shook and he looked up at Saori. She smiled and took over the pen, without hesitation, she wrote down Andou Daisuke.

"Ah... so that's Die-sama's name."

"Eh? You never knew before?" Shinya shook his head with a faint blush. Saori smiled and stood up with the form. "Well, now you know. It really is a surprise that you don't know, when Die and I fight, I always yell out his full name."

Shinya looked after her, he then felt Nanako tug on his hand. He turned to her with a smile. "Is something wrong, honey?"

"Daddy, do I have to go to this school?"

"Yes, sweetie. Die-sama recommended this school, so don't let him down." Shinya smiled down at her. Nanako smiled back and nodded her head firmly.

"Good girl." Saori walked back and smiled at them. "Let's go shopping!"

Nanako and Shinya looked at her smiling face; it was not like they had much of a choice.

School started for Nanako the next day, Saori drove her and Shinya to school the following morning. Saori decided that it was amusing to watch Shinya trying to part with Nanako for 8 hours a day. Eventually, they had to drive off and go home, though Shinya would still turn around and glance behind him from time to time.

In this society, everything did not come easy, and there was such a thing called peer pressure. Soon enough, Nanako would come home and the first thing she'd ask from Shinya was to buy more clothes. From Chanel to Gucci to Dior. Apparantly, the kids at school were all wearing such things. Without a choice, Shinya spent a month of his income to buy her an outfit.

However, to have Nanako come home every day to ask him for a brand new thing was not a pleasant idea. Slowly, Nanako learnt to rebel against Shinya, and their conversations would usually end in Nanako slamming the door in his face or running out of the room.

Shinya did not know what to do; he didn't want to turn to anyone else either. He felt ashamed that Nanako would turn out this way. Insomnia came as his friend every single night; he tried to work out ways to solve this problem, this emotional burden soon showed on his face.

"Shin-chan, what's wrong?" Over one weekend, Saori finally voiced her concern. She thought that sending Nanako to school might be a new thing for Shinya, which he just needed an adjustment period. However, it was the weekend and they were still not spending any time together at all.

"It's nothing... I couldn't sleep last night because I had a nightmare..." Shinya answered silently. He wished that all this was just a nightmare that he'd be able to wake up from it soon.

"Bullshit, I don't believe you. Tell me what's wrong?" Saori rejected his excuse immediately.

"... Actually, Saori-sama... I was wondering if I could work more shifts or do more..."

"Why would you want to do that?"

"Because... I need more money for Nana-chan..." Shinya said slowly.

"I see." Saori nodded. "No, you're not working anymore." Shinya's eyes dropped in defeat. "But I'll see about a raise."

Shinya's head rose up again and he looked at her with wide eyes, she smiled and patted his cheek. "Now, will you tell me what's really wrong?"

"I... I just... I don't know what's going on anymore... with Nanako-chan..."

"What's wrong with Nana-chan?" Saori inquired quickly. "Is she sick?"

"No, it's just that Nana-chan..."

The door swung open and Die walked in, Shinya stopped in mid sentence and quickly excused himself. Saori looked after him as he practically bolted away from the scene and looked back at Die again.

"Die-chan, give Shin-chan a raise."

"... Why?"

"Because I like Shin-chan."

Die snorted and looked at her. "That's not a good reason, Saori."

"Because he's pretty?"

Die raised and eyebrow and made a notion to walk away.

"Because he's cute!" Saori raised her voice. "Even though Totchi's cuter, but Shin's still cute!!"

Die began walking, Saori latched out and grabbed onto his arm. "Die!!!!"

"What?"

"Give Shinya a raise!!! Die~~~~~~~" Saori opened her mouth and began whining.

"Fine, fine, stop whining!"

"Yay! I love you!" Saori beamed and kissed his cheek before she bounced out of the room quickly. Now, she needed to talk to Nanako.

"Nana-chan! I haven't talked to you in a long time!" She bounced into Nanako's room and flopped down onto the bed. Nanako was sitting at her table writing something.

"Hmmmm... yeah...."

"So, how's everything going with you, sweetie?"

"I'm fine." Nanako said nonchalantly.

"Okay.... then do you know what's wrong with Shin-chan?"

"Shin-chan? Ah, you mean daddy? I don't know." She went back to her work again.

Saori looked around and clearly felt awkward. "But... you're always with him; don't you think he looks really sad lately?"

"No, I don't think so, I think he's sick, it's like him." Nanako replied.

"Well... anou... either way, aren't you worried?"

"Don't you think you're annoying?" Nanako threw down her pencil and looked at Saori impatiently.

Saori blinked and scratched her head. "Well... yeah... I feel like an old woman nagging... but... that's because something is wrong with Shin-chan, and I'm surprised you haven't noticed or said anything yet."

Nanako looked at her for a moment longer before she picked up her pencil again. "Nana-chan..." Saori spoke up.

The door opened and Shinya entered the room. "Nana-chan, lunch is ready, do you...? Saori-sama." He stopped half way and looked at her in surprise.

"Ah, I'm just here to keep Nana-chan company." Saori got up from the bed. "You two go have lunch now."

"Hai." Shinya looked at the back of Nanako. "Nana-chan..."

"I'm not hungry."

Shinya looked down and bit his lips harshly. Saori watched this scene with a frozen smile.

"Nana-chan, you should eat something, or else you'll be hungry later." Shinya started.

"I can eat when I get hungry later." Her voice adapted a more annoyed tone.

Shinya lowered his head and walked out of the room with slumped shoulders. Saori turned to Nanako with wide eyes. "Nana-chan! How could you speak to Shin-chan like that?"

"What? I can speak to him however I want! He's my father, not yours!" Nanako spat out.

"Nana-chan... what is wrong with you? Are you sick?"

"I am not sick! He is sick and he'll make me sick too!" She huffed out angrily.

"I... think... I'll go eat that lunch that Shinya prepared..." Saori backed out of the room slowly and closed the door. "So scary..."

By the time she reached the kitchen, Shinya was already covering up Nanako's lunch and putting them away. "Shin-chan, I'm hungry, do you mind if I eat instead?" She asked with a smile.

"Anou... yeah... sure..." Shinya unwrapped the dishes and placed the plates in front her slowly. In the process, a drop of tear slipped out of his eyes and landed on the table. He quickly turned around to cover it up.

Saori looked at him and sighed; she got up and hugged him tightly. "Shin-chan, it's okay, you can cry if you want to." Shinya turned and buried his head onto her shoulder. "It's okay, it'll get better soon."

The weekend passed by without a sign of getting better. On Monday, Nanako left for school earlier than normal and threw Shinya off balance. Die dropped her off at school as he was always the first one to leave the house.

In the afternoon, Saori told Shinya that maybe picking Nanako up will soften things between them. After little debating, Shinya agreed with her. And as they rode up the school, they saw Nanako walking out with a group of girls that were dressed like royalties.

"Nana-chan." Shinya called out.

Nanako looked at him and her eyes widened in surprise. He was still in his uniform, and his hair was brushed back messily. Saori came out of the car from behind him and waved at her.

"Nanako, who is that?" One of the royalties asked.

Nanako looked at her and then looked back at Shinya; she debated in her mind, then turned up her nose and looked away.

"No one, just a driver."
