The Midnight Butterfly

Part Eight

“So you were just suddenly upset and started wandering around?” Kaoru asked furrowing his brow. “What are you not telling me Reita?”

Kyo squeezed Reita’s hand, “It’s ok, Rei-chan, just tell us.”

Reita bit his lip. “I can’t tell you what I saw. Just that it hurt me and I was so upset I didn’t even care about the rain or wind.”

Kaoru let out a big sigh. “Ok then continue.”

“I wandered aimlessly for a long time thinking about just throwing myself over a bridge and drowning in the swift river waters, but then I thought about Kyo and the other Hokan and how sad they’d be, I realized I couldn’t do that to them. I started shivering and shaking so I decided to find my way home, as I also didn’t want Kyo mad at me for catching a cold.

I noticed the door was open, I figured the wind had blown it, that’s happened before, so I did my best to close it. I went to my room and got a blanket to dry off with; then I wanted some tea so I went into the kitchen to get the water going. I was heading back to my room to change out of my wet clothes when I saw a light coming from the basement room. We were always told not the go into that room unless we’d been blessed and made ready for the Mizuage. I thought it was Kyo or Miyavi so I wanted to go down and maybe talk to them from the stairs.

There was a weird smell it was citrus and ink, and something else. The smell was turning my stomach and something told me to not go down but I was too curious. The walls were covered in writing and there was a lantern on the floor that illuminated the torn and tattered futon that was raining feathers. I saw a shadow as I was coming down the stairs; but I wanted to figure out what was going on so I kept walking into the room.

He caught me from behind and hit my shoulders with something that caused me to nose dive, I’m sure that’s when my nose broke because I heard a snap when I hit the ground. I felt him tying my hands and I fought against him, but he was stronger than I am.” Reita stopped and rubbed his wrist idly, beginning to lean towards Kyo slightly.

“How tall would you say he was?” Kaoru asked.

“I think, I don’t know for sure but maybe three four inches taller.”

“Please continue your story,” Kaoru said waving a hand at Reita.

“He kept forcing me back to the wall, every time I struggled. He said that it had nothing to do with me, and it wasn’t my fault; I was so scared…”

Kyo wrapped his arm around Reita’s shoulders and pulled him close.

“You say you heard his voice?” Kaoru asked. “Couldn’t you tell who it was?”

Reita shook his head, “It was just hissing, he yelled once it sounded deep, but I don’t know, it was mostly just hissed whispers, about how I wouldn’t ever know who it was. He held a knife to my throat, I just wanted to have someone save me, the knife scared me I thought I was going to be killed… and after he’d destroyed my kimono I pushed away from him and ran but he caught me with his arm ‘round my stomach and he hit me; I was so scared and it hurt so much I nearly blacked out at that point, but he hissed to stop fighting I couldn’t win. Then he, he…” Reita mumbled and started crying.

Kyo held him and pet his hair, “It’s ok Reita, I’m here now, and you’re ok nothing will happen to you again. You’re ok itoshii.”

“I blacked out when he…” Reita sobbed.

            Kaoru nodded.

Shinya was pacing the main floor when he heard a knock at the door, his brows clenched as he wondered who that could be. Opening the door Shinya bowed, “Toshiya-san.”

“Konnichiwa, you don’t have staff today?” Toshiya wondered.

“Not on days of Mizuage. What can I do for you?”

“I brought a note from Yoshiki, for Kyo, could I give it to him?” Toshiya asked.

“I’m afraid he’s in a meeting right now,” Shinya smiled. “I can give it to him for you.”

Toshiya smiled back, “That would be very nice of you.” Toshiya leaned closer to Shinya, “Do you know anything about who’s performing the mizuage?”

Shinya smiled, “You’re going to bring information back to Yoshiki aren’t you?”

“Not really to Yoshiki, I was going to tell Die.”

“You’re going to see Die today?” Shinya asked suddenly interested.

“Yeah right after handing the letter over,” Toshiya raised an eyebrow.

“If I tell you about the mizuage could you also give Die a message for me?” Shinya asked.

“Well I am already being messenger boy; I guess I could handle one more.”

“Kyo’s not going to trust anyone; after last night, he’s going to perform the mizu himself,” Shinya said.

“‘After last night’? What happened last night?” Toshiya asked.

“I can only say that unnamed Hokan was attacked last night and I shouldn’t even have told you that, promise you won’t spread it around?” Shinya asked.

“You have my word,” Toshiya said with a flourished bow. “Now for your message to Die sweet Geisha?”

Shinya giggled and blushed at Toshiya, “Will you also see Hakuei?”

“Most likely, let me guess? A message for him too?” Toshiya smiled.

“If you wouldn’t mind; I would get a servant to do this but there are none.”

“Ah so you’re comparing me to a servant?” Toshiya flashed a crooked glance.

“No!” Shinya exclaimed. “I’m sorry that did sound bad didn’t it?”

“No offence taken, I was just kidding with you. So, what are the messages?”

“First tell Die I finally received his letter and it’s mutual,”

            “Got it,” Toshiya said.

“Tell Hakuei that he’d better lay low for a while or Kyo won’t let him near Aoi ever again.”

Toshiya let a small pout pull his lower lip, “I wish I had Geisha friends that would send me messages.”

“Stick around, I’m sure you’ll find one,” Shinya laughed.

“We’ll see,” Toshiya bowed. “I leave you to your afternoon dear Geisha, and I’ll deliver your messages if it’s the last thing I do.”

Shinya smiled and bowed as he closed the door behind Toshiya.

“I thought I heard Kyo’s voice calling me,” Reita said through tears. “I woke up kind of then, I was so scared. Then I saw a knife coming after me…” Reita couldn’t speak; his voice failed him as he cried into Kyo’s shoulder.

“That was me,” Kyo told Kaoru. “I was going to cut his wrists free. I called to him and told him it was me and he was safe now. I think that’s when he really woke up. Then I sent Shinya out for a doctor and you.”

“Ok,” Kaoru said. “The night is starting to come together for me. Thank you very much Reita,” Kaoru said walking over to Reita and putting a hand on his shoulder. “You’ve been a very good help, you can go ahead and forget it all now; you don’t need it anymore.” Kaoru smiled and looked at Kyo. “Thank you for letting me talk to him, I’ll leave you alone now so he can compose himself. I’ll see myself out.” Kaoru bowed and patted Reita’s shoulder before turning and leaving Kyo’s office.

Kaoru made his way down the stairs listening to the sounds of the okiya. I wish you could talk to me walls, Kaoru thought. This case could be over and everyone could get a good night’s sleep. Kaoru looked up as he reached the final step and saw Shinya and Aoi talking by the door, he caught a name that sparked his interest. “What are you two talking in dark corners about?” Kaoru asked smiling as he stepped closer to them.

“Oh nothing of importance Samurai,” Shinya said bowing.

“Oh you can call me Kaoru; and that’s interesting because I could have sworn I heard you say ‘Toshiya’?”

Aoi looked at Shinya. Kaoru looked at Shinya with a raised brow.

Shinya sighed, “Toshiya came over with a note for Kyo from Yoshiki, and you were still talking to Reita so I took the note and sent him away.”

“Did he ask you anything? Or say why he’d come instead of a servant?” Kaoru asked.

“No. I guess he came because the note was important and Yoshiki trusts Toshiya enough with delivering it.” Shinya said folding his arms across his chest.

“May I see the letter?” Kaoru asked.

“Now I thought a Samurai would now that only the person who is to receive the letter is to read it? And isn’t the retainer supposed to give the message to only who it’s meant for, otherwise his mission is failed and depending on importance might have to commit seppuku?” Shinya asked.

            Aoi stared at him.

“That’s very clever of you Shinya,” Kaoru said. “I had no prior knowledge however that you held Samurai title; and as I’m sure you also must know, I’m ronin, have no master and therefore those ways mean little to me.” Kaoru held out his hand.

Shinya pouted and handed the letter over.

Kaoru smiled and shook his head, taking the letter. Kaoru looked at the signature smelled the ink and handed it back to Shinya. “Arigato,” Kaoru smiled. “Don’t let Kyo make you commit seppuku, it’d be a shame to lose such a clever person.” Kaoru winked and pushed past Aoi and Shinya and made his way out of the okiya.

I feel so sorry for Kyo, that one must be a nightmare at best, Kaoru thought as he walked leisurely to his small police office.

            “Kyo-sama, I’m sorry,” Reita sniffed.

            “For what Reita?”

“I’m falling apart at the seams,” Reita hugged closer to Kyo.

Kyo wrapped his arms tightly around Reita and rocked him. “It’s perfectly natural Reita. You’ve been through so much. Everything from finding out what could happen to you if you do anything before your mizu, I’m not sure what happened with Aoi but I’m sure it’s not good so that’s wearing you down, and now you’ve been brutalized. I don’t care what you say, you are very strong! It’s perfectly acceptable for you to have overwhelming emotions that are finally pouring from you.”

“Kyo…”Reita said. “Thank you. You’ve done so much for me; I really love you for it. Honto arigato gozaimasu.”

“Reita, would it be ok if I left you with Shinya? I have to get ready for the mizuage now,” Kyo whispered.

“Who’s performing it?” Reita asked looking up at Kyo.

            “I’m going to,” Kyo said.

            “What?” Reita asked.

“I can’t trust anyone enough so given the circumstances I’m going to perform the ceremony.” Kyo looked into Reita’s eyes, “Do you have an issue with that?”

“To be honest, yes I’m jealous of Miyavi. I wish you could have been the one for me but now I’m ‘kizumono’…”

Kyo grabbed Reita’s face, “Don’t ever use that word to describe your self ever again.” Kyo’s eyes got wet, “You cannot think that about yourself. That word is meant for people who give that up willingly, and even then it’s vulgar. I never want to hear that word escape your lips again. Clear?”

Reita nodded as a tear slid down his cheek. Kyo wiped Reita’s face gently, “You know this ‘tanga’ is very handy for catching tears.”

Reita smiled, “Aoi and Shinya think of everything.” “Can I ask something of you Kyo?”

            “Anything,” Kyo replied.

“Will you kiss me? I wanted to kiss you last night but I got scared, I want to know if that’s a new reaction I’ll have forever now,” Reita looked down.

Kyo pulled his face back up and looked into his eyes for a long moment; moving very slowly Kyo brought his lips closer to Reita’s.

Reita’s lips began to tremble, and his heart beat so fast it was hurting, but he couldn’t tell if it was fear, or something else. He’d never felt this before.

“You ok?” Kyo asked feeling Reita’s body begin to shake.

“I’m kind of scared; I don’t know what my body’s doing.” Reita said and Kyo pulled away.

“We’ll try again later,” Kyo said and started to stand.

“But,” Reita said. “I kissed you last night when you were asleep and I wasn’t scared and I didn’t have any reactions like what I’m feeling now.”

Kyo blushed looking at Reita, “You kissed me last night?”

            “I’m sorry; I hope you’re not offended.”

“I’m not offended, just kind of sorry I missed it,” Kyo smiled. “I have to go now though Reita. I promise we’ll try again later when there’s nothing to interrupt ok?”

Reita bit his lip and nodded.

“Shinya is right downstairs; you should go to him and help get Miyavi ready. If you don’t want to you can stay in my office here or try to sleep some more in your room.”

“I want to help you get ready,” Reita said blushing.

“I don’t really need any help,” Kyo said.

“Then just let me watch you, I want to be around you, I feel safe with you and Miyavi…”

“You can’t watch the mizuage,” Kyo said shaking his head. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt if you are with me while I’m getting ready but once I am you have to leave, we have to use my room since the basement is…” Kyo stopped and grabbed Reita’s hands, “Come on.”

Kyo pulled his bedroom door open and pushed Reita inside. Reita was a little nervous he’d never been into Kyo’s room before, only Shinya and Miyavi had. Kyo’s walls had quite a few pictures of a very pretty Onna Geisha hanging on them.

“My mother,” Kyo smiled seeing Reita looking at the photos.

“I can see where you get your looks,” Reita smiled. He saw Kyo blush as he went to his closet. Reita wondered at the foreign style raised bed in the corner of the room, “Kyo do you sleep on this?”

“It was a gift, I like it but I prefer futons, I’m kind of old fashioned that way,” he smiled pulling a pure white kimono from his closet.

Reita took the kimono from him and unfolded it on the floor; standing back up Reita stood in front of Kyo. Kyo looked into his eyes and Reita moved his hands to Kyo’s tie and pulled the fabric free of his small form. Kyo held his kimono closed and turned his back to Reita as the young man pulled the white kimono from the floor. Reita held the kimono to Kyo’s back and Kyo sighed letting his blue one fall from his shoulders. Reita helped Kyo into the thick cloth then bent down to pick up the plain blue. Kyo folded and tied himself quickly into the new kimono and turned around looking at Reita. Reita held Kyo’s still warm kimono to his chest and breathed in the scent.

“What do you think?” Kyo asked, holding out his arms and spinning slowly around.

“I think it’s a gorgeous piece of work,” Reita said smiling.

Shinya smiled and applied a red smudge to Miyavi’s lower lip. Miyavi fidgeted, and scratched the thick white cloth covering his arms. “This thing is uncomfortable,” Miyavi sighed.

“Don’t worry,” Shinya said. “You won’t be wearing it much longer.”

A deep red colored Miyavi’s cheeks.

“Aw, I can see you blushing even under the make-up,” Aoi laughed.

“Shut up both of you,” Miyavi scolded. “You know I’m nervous as hell.”

“And the fact that it’s going to be Kyo is making it worse?” Shinya asked.

“I really love him but he’s never really showed much interest in me,” Miyavi mumbled.

“Kyo has a history that he hasn’t told anyone about, only Yoshiki knows and I’ve tried to pull some out of him but he’s even tighter lipped than Kyo,” Shinya said.

“He rarely ever shows his love for anyone,” Aoi said.

“That’s why I’m so jealous of Reita right now,” Miyavi said.

“To tell the truth we’re all jealous of Reita right now,” Shinya said. “Who doesn’t want their parent to show them how much they’re loved?”

“I think Reita is getting a little deeper with his feelings than just parental guidance,” Aoi commented.

            “I agree,” Miyavi said.

“I know,” Shinya thought aloud. “He’s in there with him now, helping him get ready for tonight.”

“That’s strange isn’t it?” Aoi asked. “Doesn’t the victim of something like that, usually not want sex afterwards for a long time?”

“I don’t think he’s really after Kyo for sex,” Shinya said. “I think he just really wants to be close to him and isn’t sure how to do that. He’s very confused emotionally and physically, and Kyo knows that, he won’t let him do anything I’m sure, plus Kyo’s really slow to warm up to that kind of thing, he’s even uncomfortable to do this for Miyavi, but he has to.”

“He’s only doing this ‘cause he has to?” Miyavi sobbed. “Thanks a lot Shinya.”

“Oh Miyavi, I’m sure there’s more in it than that, I was just trying to prove my point.”

Miyavi smiled, “I know, it’s ok Shinya.”

Reita hugged Kyo close, don’t make me leave, he thought.

“You have to go now Reita, you can go back to my office if you want, but Shinya and Aoi would gladly keep you company.”

“I don’t want to leave you,” Reita said.

“Reita please stop this, you can’t stay, and I can’t let you stay… Please for me just do this?” Kyo asked.

Reita nodded, “I’ll go sit with Shinya and Aoi downstairs, I don’t really want to hear anything coming from this room anyway,” Reita smiled. “I am pretty tired maybe I’ll sleep some?”

            Kyo sighed and hugged Reita.

“I’m sorry I’m so clingy Kyo, I just, I think it’s because of the questions, I relived the most terrifying moment in my life.”

“I understand that Reita, I’m sorry you had to. I have to keep this okiya going though, for all our sakes.”

            “Thanks Kyo-sama.”

“It’s ok; you’ll be fine now go downstairs.”

Reita slipped out of Kyo’s room and made his way down the stairs and waited for Shinya and Aoi in the foyer.

Shinya stood up and pulled Miyavi up with him. “Ok Aoi, time for you to go downstairs.”

Aoi nodded and exited the room, excitedly bouncing down the hallway.

Shinya pulled Miyavi’s kimono straight and stared at him. “Alright, ‘little brother’ it’s time for you to be an adult and make your way as a fully realized Geisha, I am proud to hand you over to the mizuage and know that you will not disappoint your family or your okiya.”

“Thank you ‘big brother’, for training and accepting me under your wing, may your next student please you further than I could.” Miyavi bowed low to Shinya and Shinya nodded his head.

Shinya took Miyavi’s hand and kissed his cheek as he led him down the hall to Kyo’s room. “I deliver you here, dear Hokan, into the arms of change, and I await your rebirth.” Shinya smiled at Miyavi then knocked at Kyo’s door.

Kyo opened his door and bowed three times to Shinya as Shinya did likewise. Kyo turned and bowed once to Miyavi. “Welcome Imomushi Hokan,” Kyo said. “When you leave this room you will be a new Geisha, do you accept the offer?”

            “I do,” Miyavi said.

Kyo made room for Miyavi to enter and smiled at Shinya before he closed the door. Shinya sighed and made his way downstairs.

            “Are you nervous?” Kyo asked.

            “Yes,” Miyavi blushed.

“I promise to be careful with you,” Kyo said as he stood next to Miyavi and held his hands.

            “Kyo-sama?”

            “Yes?”

“Do you love me? Or are you doing this because you have to?” Miyavi asked as a blushed heated his cheeks.

“Both,” Kyo smiled. “I love you, and I have to do this, if it was my choice I wouldn’t do this to you, not tonight anyway. Another way I’m old fashioned is I believe in courting. I would’ve preferred to be closer to you emotionally before this, but as the moon calls…”

“Why didn’t you get closer to me emotionally before? You knew I loved you.”

“I knew you loved me and I knew I loved you, I had always planned on selling the mizuage and then getting closer to you, so as not to disrupt the natural flow of your Geisha life. I didn’t know things would turn out like this.”

“But,” Miyavi said. “Aren’t circumstances like this the reason you’re supposed to show how much you care for people all the time?”

“Perhaps,” Kyo said smiling. “I’m learning a lot through this unfortunate case.”

Miyavi leaned in and kissed Kyo, Kyo closed his eyes and kissed back.

“Aishiteru,” Miyavi whispered and slipped his fingers into Kyo’s sash untying it. Kyo’s breath caught and he kissed Miyavi’s neck. Bringing his hands down Kyo slipped into Miyavi’s kimono and traced across the younger man’s hips. Miyavi moved his hands to untie his own sash but Kyo pulled them away, “Don’t be impatient,” Kyo said.

Kyo twisted behind Miyavi and untied the fabric; letting it fall to the ground Kyo pulled the white kimono from Miyavi’s shoulders exposing his smooth back. Kyo moved his hands down Miyavi’s back and pulled the young man’s hips back pressing against him.

Miyavi slid around in Kyo’s hands and pushed Kyo’s kimono from him. Miyavi pulled Kyo to the futon spread on the floor and pushed him down gently onto it. Miyavi leaned over Kyo and kissed his lips pushing his tongue in gently and exploring the warm cavern. Miyavi moved his tongue out of Kyo’s mouth and sent it to roam across his well formed chest. Kyo shivered and took hold on Miyavi’s hair when Miyavi took one of his hard nipples into his mouth. Miyavi continued down and kissed Kyo’s bellybutton before sending his hot tongue into it. Kyo moaned and bucked up against Miyavi.

Kyo watched as Miyavi sent a pure mixture of torture and pleasure through his system.

Miyavi pulled his face away from Kyo and looked lustily at the pre-cum glistened erection before him; he flicked his eyes up to Kyo’s and stuck out his tongue playfully before quickly engulfing Kyo in lust. Kyo dug his fingers into Miyavi’s hair and pulled him gently as he moaned freely.

Miyavi rubbed the length roughly with his tongue and gently nursed. Kyo thrust up into Miyavi’s mouth. Miyavi pulled away allowing a trail of saliva to connect him to his lover.

Kyo sat up and moved Miyavi to his hands and knees, slicking his fingers he gently slipped two into Miyavi. Miyavi hissed beneath him then rocked back against Kyo as he rubbed his prostate. Miyavi was giving off throaty moans that were making Kyo even hotter; he wrapped a warm hand around Miyavi’s length and pumped gently while he continued to work his insides with his fingers. Miyavi was panting when Kyo pulled his fingers out and situated himself behind his Hokan.

“This will hurt Miyavi,” Kyo whispered and pushed just the head of him self in gently.

Miyavi cried out as Kyo pushed deeper then stayed still; Miyavi took deep breaths and began rocking slowly against Kyo. Kyo took the hint well enough and thrust gently into the hot and tight sheath.

“Aishiteru Kyo, now hurt me?” Miyavi pleaded.

Kyo thrust stiffly into Miyavi causing the man to groan in pleasured pain. Miyavi caught the timing of Kyo’s thrusts and began rocking his hips against him in rhythm. Kyo pumped faster and Miyavi tightened his muscles around him. Miyavi moaned and grabbed one of Kyo’s hands leading it to his dripping erection. Kyo grasped the Hokan’s slick hard shaft and pumped in time with his thrusts. Miyavi couldn’t stand the pleasure that was coursing through him, “Kyo,” he groaned. “I’m so close.” Kyo sped up and pulled his reserve strength fighting against Miyavi’s high tide to peak with him. Miyavi moaned Kyo’s name a final time then splashed out his white waves against Kyo’s undercurrent, just as Kyo spilled over into the tight embrace of his newly blossomed Geisha.

Reita was fast asleep, his head in Shinya’s lap.

Shinya was pulling his fingers softly through Reita’s hair when he heard an explosive moan erupt from upstairs.

“I’m glad he’s asleep,” Aoi said.

“I wish I was too,” Shinya smiled.
