Epilogue
Shinya stepped into the ‘Mayonaka Butterfly’ to nods and bows of the morning staff. Shinya took the stairs up heading to Kyo’s office. Knocking three times he heard Kyo’s voice telling him to enter and couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his face as he opened the door. “Shinya!” Kyo exclaimed and moved to the smiling man catching him in a warm hug. “Hey Kyo,” Shinya laughed lifting Kyo slightly. “Long time no see.” “It’s been what a year?” Kyo asked moving to sit behind his desk and motioning Shinya to join him. “About that now,” Shinya said nodding. “How are you and Die coming along?” “He’s an absolute doll, I couldn’t ask for a nicer man to live out the rest of my days with.” Kyo smiled, “How’s life outside the hanamachi? You moved to the district Toshiya went to right?” “Yes, Die wanted to be away from his father for awhile so we moved out there and Die’s actually getting into business deals and working closely with Yoshiki to create a cross district alliance,” Shinya smiled proudly. “Wow,” Kyo sighed. “Sounds like you know how to pick ‘em,” Kyo laughed. “How’s Toshiya doing?” “He’s very well, he’s really got a mind for business and is running the kimono shop like a Shogun,” Shinya giggled. “How’re Miyavi, Aoi and Reita?” “Well Aoi left us for Hakuei before he sold his mizuage, I have to remember to ask the mother of the next boy if there’s any love in his past,” Kyo laughed. “Miyavi is doing great! He took over right where you left off and has now set a new record for o-hana price.” “How’s your relationship?” Shinya interrupted to ask. “I don’t think it was meant to be, we love each other yes, but we’re too different. When you left is actually when Miyavi chose to be away from me. Do you remember the doctor that helped Reita?” Shinya nodded. “Miyavi’s been with him for a few months now.” “Ah,” Shinya smiled. “So did you end up with Reita?” “I kind of was more interested in Reita from the beginning, that’s awful of me isn’t it?” Kyo sighed. “Maybe,” Shinya shrugged. “But we do what we think we have to.” “Reita’s mizuage sold pretty high,” Kyo said. “Really?” Shinya asked. “So you’ve got two Geisha in one house now? That must be hell.” “For awhile yeah, they were rivals but now they’re coming to accept each other. I threatened to kick them out if they weren’t civil to each other,” Kyo smiled. “Anyone new in the okiya?” Shinya asked. “I have been looking but no one has really caught my eye, I might just take in a girl, give it a try.” Kyo shrugged. “I think you’d be excellent with a girl under your wing, because of your mother. Did you ever think of being a Geisha again?” “No, I don’t think I’ll ever do that, plus I’d have to sell my mizuage. I don’t see myself doing that anytime soon,” Kyo laughed. “Oh I forgot to ask, who got Reita’s?” “He was really nervous so I let him choose and he picked Kaoru; the price was originally low but Yoshiki backed him and they did pretty well, which reminds me, Yoshiki and I are in business together now, we bought a small restaurant in the hanamachi and it’s doing exceedingly well. Imomushi could probably retire happily now, but we love what we do too much.” “Sounds like we’ve done well for ourselves then?” Shinya asked. “Yes,” Kyo laughed. “I was just on my way to the okiya would you like to come say hi to Miyavi and Reita?” “That sounds nice,” Shinya smiled. Kyo stood up and took Shinya’s hand and together they walked, reminiscing and laughing to the okiya.
