I do not have rights to nor do I own the members of Dir en grey, Die, Kaoru, Kyo, Shinya and Toshiya, or one Yoshiki. The story and thoughts contained herein are my own, and is centered around the time of the recording of ‘Gauze’
“I’ve got an idea,” Die said, finishing off his fourth beer. “What is it?” Toshiya asked. “Got any 2’s?” He asked Kyo, holding his last card up. “Damn. Here,” Kyo grumbled, handing a card to Toshiya. “I win again!” Toshiya exclaimed and began gathering all the cards. “Oh god. Ne, Die what’s the plan?” Shinya asked giving his cards to Toshiya. “Yeah Die hurry up, before he can deal again,” Kaoru said and was promptly punched in the arm by Toshiya. The five of them sat in a circle in the middle of some uncharted woods. Kaoru’s idea of ‘Spending some time getting to know each other better.” Going clockwise the order of sitting was Toshiya, Kaoru, Kyo, Die and Shinya. A small fire burned behind Toshiya and the tents were behind Kyo. “I think we should mix up a bunch of games and call it one,” Die said. “Ok. You’ve got our attention,” Toshiya said leaning forward. “What’s included in this bunch of games?” Kaoru asked. “Well. Don’t get on my case about this. How ‘bout we mix Spin-the-Bottle, Truth-or-Dare and add a little stripping?” “Geez Die, you’re just drunk hentai tonight ne?” Kyo laughed out. “What are the rules Die?” Shinya asked. “Well first someone spins the bottle, whoever it lands on they have to kiss. It doesn’t matter what or where you kiss.” “So you could kiss my ass?” Kyo interrupted laughing. Die glared at him. “So you kiss whoever the bottle stops on, then you ask ‘truth or dare’. If the one you’re questioning wants to pass they have to remove some clothes.” Die concluded. “Hmm, sounds interesting. Let’s do it.” Kaoru said. “Kaoru, don’t encourage him.” Kyo complained. “What Kyo, you worried you’ll be naked in no time?” Toshiya asked. “No, I just… Oh whatever lets play then.” “I think it’s a good way to get to know each others’ limits,” Shinya interjected. “Alright, who goes first?” Die asked. Kaoru grabbed Die’s empty beer bottle and said, “I’ll spin it and whoever the nozzle lands on goes first.” “Wait!” Toshiya said. “We need a hard surface to spin it on; maybe we should play in the tent?” “Oh perfect…” Kyo added sardonically, “cramped quarters and naked bodies.” “Are you ever going to stop complaining?” Toshiya whined. Kyo stood up and opened the flap of the tent behind him, grumbling to himself he climbed in and moved to the back of the rectangular space. Kaoru stepped in and sat to Kyo’s right. Shinya was next; gingerly situating himself across from Kaoru to Kyo’s left. “You don’t think this could be fun or exciting at all?” Shinya directed to Kyo. Kyo rolled his eyes and glared towards the opening of the tent where Die was now making his entrance. Die plopped down next to Kaoru. Then Toshiya came in, smiling and excited for what was to come, he sat next to Shinya across from Die. As soon as Toshiya sat down Die sealed up the tent and moved around so that they were in more of a circle. “Ok,” Kaoru said and sat the bottle on the tent floor and gave it a spin. “It’s really dark in here,” Shinya noticed as he watched the bottles’ progression. The bottle slowed to a stop and its nose pointed in-between Die and Toshiya towards the opening of the tent. “Well that’s surely an omen,” Kyo laughed. “Kyo,” Shinya scolded. Kyo stuck his tongue out proudly. “Ok, I’ll try again,” Kaoru said, spinning once more. This time it landed firmly on Toshiya. “Great, me first!” Toshiya reached for the bottle and gave it a whirl. “Die,” he said when it had finally stopped. Toshiya grabbed Die’s hand and kissed his palm. “Truth or Dare?” “Truth,” Die chose. “Did you really want to play this game because you’re having hentai issues?” Toshiya asked smiling. “No. I just thought it would be fun to jazz up ‘Truth-or-Dare’.” “BULL,” Kyo said. “Hey what should we do if someone’s lying?” “I think we should just take it all at face value,” Kaoru said. “Whatever is said here should be truth. You always have the option to strip if you think the question is too personal or not something you don’t want to answer.” “Hmm,” Kyo thought. “I think we should throw them into the woods and let the wild creatures, the one’s that hone in on body heat, eat them alive!” Kyo finished with a wicked grin and an evil giggle. Shinya backhanded his arm, “Quit it.” Die grabbed the bottle and spun it, he laughed when it landed on Kyo. Leaning over he grabbed Kyo’s hand and pulled up his arm giving the inside of his elbow a little kiss. Kyo pulled away and rubbed at his elbow his face scrunched. “Truth or Dare?” Die asked him. “Dare.” “Hmm, I dare you to find any bug outside and eat it.” Die said crossing his arms on his chest. “What will you make me take off if I don’t?” Kyo asked. “Your pants,” Die said laughing. “Done,” Kyo said and shivered out of his pants, folding them up nicely, he threw them in Die’s lap and grabbed the bottle. They all sat with their jaws open, little Kyo wasn’t wearing anything under his pants and he wasn’t all that little. Toshiya cracked up laughing and Shinya sidled away. “What?” Kyo asked. “He’s the one that wanted my pants, he won’t fit in them though; they’re too cool.” He said laughing as he spun the bottle. It landed on Kaoru. “Oh god.” Kaoru said, as Kyo leaned up and kissed his forehead. Kaoru couldn’t help himself and started laughing. “Well I guess we know Kyo’s ok with himself, a bit of an exhibitionist, but what the hell?” Kaoru said trying very hard not to look down as Kyo waited in front of him. Kaoru chewed his lip, biting back a smile. “Truth or Dare?” Kyo asked lustily. The tent burst into laughter. Kyo sat back down with a satisfied smile. “Kyo, you sounded like a desperate school-girl,” Kaoru said through fits of laughter. “Truth.” “If you knew Hide really well, maybe you were his best friend growing up, and he wanted to have sex with you, would you do it?” Kaoru’s face dropped back into seriousness and everyone was silent for his answer. “I don’t really know. I think if I knew him really well I’d have the same thoughts that I’d have if it was a girl. Would it ruin everything or enhance it? I think ultimately I would decline and just live with the fact that he had those thoughts for me. God I don’t know, that’s such a delicate issue. Is that answer enough?” “What about if you were a groupie and it was a SF kinda thing?” Kyo asked. “Hey you can’t ask two questions,” Die said. “If it’s not answer enough ask a more specific question later. “No Die, it’s ok,” Kaoru said. “I kinda like this question. So it’s a one night stand and I’m a huge fan, with a huge chance to make everyone else jealous. Yes I’d do it.” “Would you want to fuck him or the other way around?” Kyo asked. “Kyo stop it,” Toshiya said. “Let’s keep playing you can ask that later.” Kaoru grabbed the bottle and spun it; it slid a little on the ground then landed on Shinya. Shinya cowered back a little as Kaoru moved towards him. Kaoru grabbed the back of his neck and Shinya’s heart raced. Kaoru moved his face in close and breathed on Shinya’s lips then pecked his cheek and sat back down. Shinya was breathless, and struggled to get his heart in its proper beating order. Toshiya and Kyo giggled, and Die bit his lip a little too hard as Kaoru asked, “Truth or Dare?” “Truth,” Shinya said in a small voice. “Have you ever wanted to have sex with someone in this tent?” Someone’s breath caught, and Shinya blushed. “I have to pass on that, what do you want me to take off?” Kaoru laughed. “I’ll take that as a yes. Your shirt I guess.” “That’s so mean Kaoru,” Toshiya reprimanded as Shinya shrugged out of his shirt and tossed it to Kaoru. Kaoru draped it across his shoulders and Shinya grabbed the bottle. “Wait,” Kyo said. “Did you hear that?” “What? Hear what?” Shinya asked. They all listened. “Hmm. I guess it was nothing.” Kyo said. Shinya shook his head and spun the bottle. It landed on Kaoru. “Is that ok?” Shinya asked Die. Die was seriously confused; did Shinya want his permission to kiss Kaoru? Toshiya slapped his shoulder. “Die? Should Shinya spin again to try to get someone else, or is it ok that it goes back to Kaoru?” Toshiya asked. “Oh,” Die said laughing; a little blush crept into his cheeks. “No, its fine that it landed on Kaoru again, once is fine, but if Kaoru spins and it lands on Shinya he has to spin again.” “Ok.” Shinya said and moved to kiss Kaoru’s hand. “Truth or Dare?” He asked backing down. “Dare.” Shinya sat back and thought for a moment. “Ne, I can’t think of anything someone help me?” “Dare him to touch Kyo’s penis,” Toshiya nuzzled into Shinya’s ear. “I can’t do that!” Shinya exclaimed wide eyed. “Do what?” Kaoru asked. “Just dare me to do something; I can always strip if I don’t want to do it.” “Fine,” Shinya said not looking at Kaoru. “Toshiya says to dare you to touch Kyo’s penis.” Kyo giggled and patted Shinya’s shoulder. “You chose to sit next to him.” “Ok Shinya,” Kaoru said. “A fingertip or should I grab hold of it?” Shinya blushed and tried to hide his face, but Toshiya grabbed his hands. “Whatever you want Kaoru,” he said. Kaoru stretched out his hand and rested it on Kyo’s knee; he slid it down Kyo’s thigh, up across his stomach, down through soft pubic hair, switching to one slender finger he traced slowly down Kyo’s length. Kyo moaned deeply and he and Kaoru burst into fitful giggles. Kaoru grabbed the bottle and stroked it suggestively eyeing Kyo which brought on a fresh round of giggling from the two of them. He set it on the ground and turned serious as he negligently twirled it. The spinning bottle stopped to rest pointing to Toshiya. Kaoru crawled on his hands and knees stopping inches away from Toshiya. Toshiya’s heart began to race at the look in Kaoru’s eyes; lust, but what for? Kaoru traced a finger up Toshiya’s cheek and cupped his hand behind his head. Kaoru pulled firmly. Toshiya didn’t have a chance to struggle as Kaoru pressed his soft lips against his nose. Toshiya tried to move up and kiss his lips but Kaoru held him back then he pulled away. “Dare,” Toshiya said flushed and breathless before Kaoru could even ask. “Geez Kaoru maybe you should take it easy?” Die said. “You got him all hot and bothered,” Kyo laughed. Kaoru sat back to think. “Did you hear that?” Kyo asked grabbing Shinya’s knee. They all listened in the darkness. “What did you hear?” Die asked. “A crunch of leaves, like there’s someone walking out there.” “Kyo stop it,” Shinya said slapping his hand. “You’re freaking me out.” “It’s ok Shinya,” Die said. “We’re all here nothing will happen.” “Yeah you’ll be fine your koi is here.” Kyo whispered to Shinya. Shinya slapped him again. “Hey Kaoru, did you tell anyone we were coming out here?” Die asked. “No, Yoshiki told us to get some sight-seeing in, since we’re done with recording; so I thought we’d come out, but I didn’t tell him we were leaving or where we were going. I thought it’d be better if we weren’t disturbed.” “Oh good one Kaoru,” Kyo scoffed. “Now if some psycho gets us out here no one will ever know.” Shinya stared at Kyo. “Kyo, god, stop please!” “Shh… I heard it again,” Kyo said. “God, what is it? I’m going to find out” Kyo stretched to move out of the tent. Shinya grabbed his arm. “Don’t go out alone, not to mention naked.” Shinya said fear coloring his tone. “Oh let him go,” Die said. “He’s got a monster of his own that could scare anyone away.” Die pointed down. Everyone laughed. Kyo sat back, “Not my fault you’re jealous, Die.” Die rolled his eyes. “Yeah, ok Kyo. Must be fun to live in that big head of yours with that impressive ego; man what a life.” Kyo stuck out his tongue. “Ok,” Kaoru said. “Toshiya I dare you to kiss Kyo like your life depended on it.” “So, pretend someone is going to kill me unless I kiss Kyo, REALLY kiss him?” Toshiya asked. “Yup,” Kaoru said. “Why are you all bugging me?” Kyo asked a little annoyed. “Pick on Die or Shinya for a change. I didn’t even want to play this damn game.” “I know,” Toshiya said apologetically. “That’s why we pick on you though, and anyway you’re the one who so readily dropped trow, that’s an open invitation to fuck with you if you ask me.” Kyo’s shoulders slumped as Toshiya crawled over for the kill. Toshiya kissed Kyo’s bottom lip softly, which turned ardent as he grabbed the back of Kyo’s head and flicked his lips with his tongue. Kyo just sat a dead weight. Toshiya pulled away. “You’re no fun,” he complained. “You didn’t even kiss back.” “I don’t remember my participation being part of the dare.” Kyo said. Toshiya grabbed the bottle and spun it a little perturbed. It landed on Kyo and they all laughed. Toshiya leaned forward smiling and kissed Kyo’s lips yet again. Kyo grabbed his head and kissed him back biting his lower lip. “Ouch, Kyo.” Toshiya whined. Kyo laughed. “I thought you wanted me to kiss back?” “Truth or Dare?” Toshiya asked shaking his head. “Dare.” “I dare you to go running naked through the woods.” Kyo pulled off his shirt and threw it in Toshiya’s face. “NO!” Kyo yelled giving the bottle a spin. “Ahhh, Die!” Kyo said with a grin. He crawled over and licked Die’s cheek. “Ha-ha, Truth or Dare?” Die wiped his cheek, “Dare.” Kyo moved back to sit down and said, “Alright, I dare you to kiss Shinya, you’ve been staring at him all night, you might as well make a move man.” Die scoffed, looking at Shinya. They both blushed as he crawled over. Die cupped Shinya’s face in his hands and gave him a soft kiss. Shinya turned his face away when Die let him go. Sighing Die grabbed the bottle and gave it a spin. It landed on Shinya. Die laughed and kissed his hand, “Truth or Dare?” He whispered pulling away. “Dare.” “I dare you to hmm…” As they all waited in silence for the dare, a twig snapped somewhere outside. “Ok, I’ll admit I was kidding before,” Kyo said. “But you all heard THAT right?” “Shh,” Kaoru said listening intently. A shuffling of leaves; closer, somewhere outside near where Kyo and Shinya were in the tent. Shinya moved further into the tent, his back to Die and Toshiya. “Maybe it’s just a tanuki attracted to the noise we’re making?” Kaoru said. “Yeah that’s it,” Toshiya said grabbing Shinya’s shoulders and holding him to his chest. “Shinya,” Die said. “I dare you to go out and see what it was.” Shinya stared at Die. “Or,” Die rebuffed. “You could just kiss somebody? That’s not too scary; unless you choose Kyo.” “Oh, Ha-Ha Daisuke.” Kyo said. “I think I’ll take the first dare Die,” Shinya said. Everyone stared at him as he made his way to the opening of the tent and shivered through it to the outside. They heard him make tentative steps around the tent on Die and Kaoru’s side. He continued his way around to where Kyo was and he stepped further into the surrounding woods. “Shinya, you can come back now,” Die called when they hadn’t heard anything for awhile. “Shinya?” Die called again. Something grabbed at Kyo through the tent and Kyo screamed. They all heard Shinya laughing hysterically. Then a twig snapped from the other direction and Shinya screamed; they heard his scream go farther away as he ran into the woods, then silence. Kyo ran from the tent grabbing his pants from Die as he went. “Shinya!” Kyo yelled. The others emerged from the tent and started looking around and calling for Shinya. “Alright,” Kaoru said. “We’re gonna look for him in pairs of two. Kyo go that way with Die, Toshiya come with me. We’ll make a wide circle and then smaller consecutive ones. I have no idea what he saw so be very careful out there. Let’s go.” Kyo took off leaving Die running and calling after him. Toshiya linked arms with Kaoru and they started off.
“Baka… Baka-jin. I shouldn’t have let him go out alone… Baka!” Kyo grumbled to himself. “Kyo wait up,” Die said stumbling over to Kyo. “Stop making me run after you,” he said slumped over. “We’re a team remember.” “Whatever.” Kyo said looking through the woods. “You ready yet?” He asked Die and started walking again. “Kyo, I’m just as worried as you are, but if I just stumble along behind you we’ll never find him.” “Maybe that’s your cue Die?” Kyo said over his shoulder as he crouched down looking at the ground cover for any signs. “Fuck off Kyo!” “Shhh!” Kyo held out his hand. “What?” Die asked, crouching next to Kyo. “I saw something move in that clump of bush over there,” Kyo said pointing. “Well let’s go see what it is,” Die said standing up. Kyo pulled him back down. “Wait baka; it could be a really big animal and I don’t need to have to explain one dead guitarist to Kaoru. Let’s creep forward.” Kyo moved off to the left in a series of crouching and leanings. Die followed but didn’t make as much effort as Kyo did. Kyo stopped about five feet away from the bushes, behind a tree; he pointed to the tree next to his. Die crouched over to the other tree and shrugged his shoulders animatedly at Kyo. Kyo put his finger to his lips and scrunched his eyebrows making a show of watching and listening. The bushes rustled, and moved in a strange sort of dance, that wasn’t caused by the wind. Die watched closely as something stood up from behind the bushes. It had a mans shape and wore a robe of some sort, long black hair lay matted and poking in odd angles at its back. Die leaned forward for a better look and a twig snapped under his foot. Die’s eyes widened in horror as the creature turned slowly around. Blood seeped from the hole in its face that was a makeshift mouth. Two long horns pointed straight up out of its forehead. It held its food, some kind of animal, in its long fingered, cracked nailed hands. Die loosed a scream as the creature ran at him.
“That was Die,” Toshiya said. “That way!” He yelled as another scream tore through the woods. He grabbed Kaoru’s hand tearing him away from examining the blood on the ground, and ran. “But Toshiya there are probably clues there.” Kaoru said. “But nothing, Die needs us!”
Kyo stumbled out from behind his tree and made his way to Die. “You ok?” He asked as Die unleashed his stomach on the earth. “Put your head between your legs,” he said putting a hand on his back. “I thought for sure I was gone.” Die panted. “Why’d it just run away like that?” “I don’t know.” Kyo stiffened when he heard a rustling in the trees; he pushed Die to the ground behind the tree and stood over him peeking around. To his relief Toshiya and Kaoru stumbled out of the trees and stopped at the bush. “Die!” Toshiya called. “He’s ok Toshiya. We’re over here.” Kyo called out. Toshiya ran over to them and hugged Die. “You ok?” he asked seeing the mess on the ground. “I’m fine, honto, fine.” Die said. Kyo walked over to the bush where Kaoru was crouched over. “What the hell is going on Kyo?” He asked. “I don’t even want to try to figure this one out, I just want to find Shinya, pack up the shit and get the hell out of here.” “Agreed,” Kaoru said standing back up. “It was so fucking weird Kaoru.” Die said walking over with Toshiya under his arm keeping him stable. “There was so much blood. It had horns. So much blood.” Die turned away looking pale. Kaoru stood up. “Forgive me for not jumping on the Oni bandwagon just yet,” he said. “I’ll have to see it myself. But more specifically we need to find Shinya. Whatever it is out there; we can’t let it get Shinya.” “Should we just stick together as one big search group then?” Toshiya asked his hands trembling. “Take Die with you guys,” Kyo said. “I’m going alone.” Die looked at Kyo slightly hurt. “No Kyo,” Kaoru said. “If you’re going off it’s not going to be alone. Take Toshiya, I’ll stay with Die.” “Kaoru, I’m better off on my own, I can sense things better.” Kyo said. “Toshiya won’t talk to you, he wasn’t talking to me. You can’t go out alone Kyo, I’m not losing two of my members tonight.” “Fine. Come on Toshiya.” Kyo grabbed his hand and ran off in the opposite direction that the creature went.
Die stumbled along behind Kaoru watching his footing to make sure he didn’t step on anymore twigs. “You ok Die?” Kaoru called back as he walked forward. “I’m fine.” “No I mean about Shinya, and Kyo’s attitude. You ok?” Die sighed. “I wish Kyo would get over himself, he’s not the only one that cares about Shinya. I feel really bad about daring him to go out there. I hope he’s ok.” “He’s smart Die, don’t worry about him, he’s out here somewhere and we’ll find him, or he’ll probably find us that is.” Kaoru said laughing. “As for Kyo, he just goes out of his way and generally gets in everyone else’s when it comes to what he does for Shinya. He was his only really good friend for a while; I can understand how he feels.” “But we’ve known each other for so long now,” Die interjected. “All that time in ‘La:Sadie’s’ you think he’d, oh I don’t know,” Die sighed, sometimes Kyo was so hard to figure out. “I know what,” Kaoru said. “I’ve just had an epiphany, Kyo is a little jealous of how Shinya acts with you, you know all shy and girly; so he’s just being mean to you because of that. Maybe?” “If he’s got feelings for Shinya he should just say so.” Die said. “Yeah you’re right, but I don’t really know that he does.” “Maybe,” Die said. “Maybe we should go back to the tents? Maybe Shinya made a wide circle and went back?” “Good idea, ok lets see if we can’t pick up Toshiya and Kyo on the way ne?”
Toshiya silently followed Kyo, putting his feet into the prints Kyo was making in the soft loam. He was thinking about what life would have been like if he’d gone into the police service. Toshiya didn’t notice when Kyo stopped walking and he bumped into him. “Gomen,” he said in hushed tones. “That’s fine Toshiya,” Kyo said. “Why did you stop?” Toshiya asked looking over Kyo’s head into the darkness of trees. “I thought I saw something move,” Kyo said and grabbed Toshiya’s hand leading him behind a tree. Poking their heads around the edge they both watched the gloom. Something was walking from tree to tree leaning against each one as it passed. It seemed to hold its arms across its chest. “I think that’s Shinya.” Kyo said. Toshiya poked his shoulder. “What?” Kyo asked shrugging him off. “Let’s go further out and see if it’s Shinya.” Toshiya poked his shoulder. “Stop poking me. What is it?” Kyo asked. Toshiya poked his shoulder. “Goddamn it Toshiya whu—“ Kyo said turning around. In front of them stood the creature. There was no more blood on it, the hair seemed smoother, or maybe Kyo was just imagining it. Kyo wrapped his arm around Toshiya’s middle and pulled him slowly away. The creature moved its head following them with it. “On my word we’re running deeper into the woods ok?” Kyo told Toshiya. The creature half-grunted, half-barked at them and Kyo yelled “Now.” They tore through the woods, Kyo headed towards the figure that had been moving in the distance.
“Hey wasn’t that Kyo and Toshiya running?” Die asked Kaoru. “You know I think you’re right. What the hell are they doing?” “Let’s go find out,” Die said and took off after them.
As Kyo got closer to the figure relief flooded his heart. “Shinya!” He yelled. Shinya looked up just as Kyo slammed into him. Shinya laughed and lifted Kyo off the ground in a wide arc. “So I take it you’re happy to see me?” “What the hell happened to you?” Toshiya asked joining in on the hug. “Shinya!” Die and Kaoru yelled as they fell in near the three huddled together. Kyo seemed to remember something and broke loose of the group hug; he stepped around Kaoru so he could see. Nothing, not one thing moved. “What’s up Kyo?” Kaoru asked. “That thing was behind Toshiya and I, that’s why we started running. It didn’t follow us.” “You all have seen it too?” Shinya asked. “All but me,” Kaoru said. “I saw it standing by the tent and I was just so scared all I could do was run, I couldn’t stop running; I kinda got myself lost out here. I’m cold and worn out and I was walking towards what I hoped was the campsite when Kyo ran into me. I heard a scream earlier was that one of you?” “Probably me,” Die said a little chagrined. “So what the hell have you all been seeing?” Kaoru asked. “It was way, way taller than me,” Toshiya said. “It’s got monstrous horns coming from its forehead, pointing straight up,” Die said. “It wears some kind of robe, and it’s got long black hair that was scraggly when I first saw it, this time it was smoother I swear,” Kyo mused. “There was so much blood,” Die turned pale again. “Yeah that was all cleaned up this time too,” Kyo said. “It’s got to be some kind of Oni,” Shinya added. “Wow, ok well let’s get back to the campsite and we’ll go back to Yoshiki’s house for the night, sound good?” Kaoru asked. “Hai,” everyone said enthusiastically.
They made it back to the tents, with a few breaks and Kyo scouted ahead most of the way keeping his eyes and ears piqued. Shinya grabbed his shirt from inside the tent and curled into a ball near the fire hole, falling asleep while the others broke down the tents and wrapped everything up. Kyo turned to wake Shinya and stopped dead in his tracks. The Oni loomed over Shinya’s sleeping form. Toshiya screamed when he turned around and they all looked on in horror as Shinya started to wake up. Shinya uncurled himself and sat up stretching, he saw the four of them staring at him in various states of alarm. “What, do I look that bad?” Shinya asked, just as he heard the bated breathing coming from behind him. Shinya felt a fingernail trace up his spinal column and his eyes threatened to bug out of their sockets. “Don’t move Shinya,” Die said and started to sidle around the creature, he found a thick branch on the ground and armed himself with it. Kyo moved forward a few feet. The creature hacked out a bark at them and grabbed Shinya’s shoulders making him stand. “It’s going to use him as a shield,” Kaoru said in awe. “Be careful you two this thing is smart.” Kyo moved around trying to draw the creatures’ attention away from Die. Die tried to move to the back of the beast but it just kept moving away from them both. Kyo caught Die’s eye and shifted his eyes to the creature tilting his head slightly. Then Kyo ran at the creature while Die ran at its back and took a swing. Die’s blow glanced off the creatures shoulder. “OWW!” The creature screamed. “What the fuck?” Kyo asked. “Don’t hurt him Die!” Shinya yelled. Kaoru started laughing and Toshiya soon joined in. “What the hell is going on?” Die screamed, as Shinya hugged the creature and patted its shoulder. “Oh my god Die. We’ve been had!” Kyo yelled over to him. “It’s Yoshiki.” “You’ve got to be kidding me?” Die said. “Alas no,” Yoshiki said pulling off his Oni mask, and shrugging out of his robe. “Motherfucker,” Die said drawing out each syllable. “And a no to that as well Die,” Yoshiki laughed. “Oh my god,” Die exclaimed. “Sumimasen, Yoshiki-sama,” Die said throwing his stick away and falling to his knees prostrating himself in front of Yoshiki. “Oh that’s ok Die, you didn’t know, you were just trying to protect Shinya; it’s ok really, please stand up.” “Alright so who’s all in on this apparently elaborate scam?” Kyo asked. “It’s all Shinya,” Yoshiki said smiling. “He told me Kaoru’s plan and said he wanted to scare you all, because you pick on him all the time. So he came up with this creature idea and asked if I’d join in the fun.” “I’m surprised you didn’t pick up on it sooner Kyo, all of this is like a scene from ‘Onibaba’.” Shinya added. “So how long have you been out here?” Toshiya asked Yoshiki. “I was about fifteen minutes behind you.” “So you heard us degenerate in the tent?” Kaoru asked. “Yeah. I heard a lot of kissing and laughter, apparently Kyo is huge,” Yoshiki laughed. “Oh my favorite though was the Hide question. I tried so hard not to laugh, I almost blew my cover.” Kaoru blushed furiously and turned away from Yoshiki. “Ne Kaoru,” Toshiya said and hugged him. “I thought Kyo knew I was out there with how many times he asked if you heard anything. I was sitting so still against a tree; I know his hearing isn’t THAT good.” Yoshiki laughed. “So what was with all the fake blood?” Die asked. “Yeah I wanted to ask that too,” Shinya said. “What blood?” Yoshiki looked confused. “Wait that wasn’t you?” Die said alarmed.
A long howl erupted into the night sky.
Owari, I’m terribly interested to know what you all think of my story. verility@hotmail.com
