Recent developments have come to light concerning the future warriors line up. Dependable hard man Jerry Seuseu has revealed the that he will be leaving the warriors at the end of the season while Thomas Leuluai has signed on for another three years. Thomas stepped up to the halfback position at a time of crisis. Stacey Jones and PJ Marsh were sidelined with injury and Lance Hohaia had experienced a form slump. Two men were left to fill the vital role. Motu Tony and Thomas Leuluai. Motu had signed a contract with the Brisbane Broncos for the 2004 season so could ably fill the position, but this would do little for the warriors should they find themselves in a similar position in the future when Tony was gone. Having confidence in the young Leuluai and wanting to develop him as a future warriors halfback option coach Daniel Anderson gave him the call up. Thomas showed level-headedness under pressure and maturity belying his youth. It is no surprise that this season the warriors management has shown enough confidence in his abilities to warrant a long term contract offer. Jerry Seuseu has been a tireless workhorse in moving the warriors pack forward. His relentless toughness and intimidating defence has been an asset to the warriors campaigns over the last two successful seasons. His choice to move to the lucrative UK based superleague tournament is not a surprising one and in fact it mirrors the decision of many an NRL veteran in the twilight of their playing career. Though the club has not been officially revealed by Seuseu it is strongly rumoured that he will be playing for Wigan. True warriors fans wish warrior players past, present and future all the best in everything they do. Posted 5th February, 2004 |
