Warrior Coach's Shock Departure |
Today the Warriors head coach Daniel Anderson shocked players and fans alike with his declaration that he had resigned as coach as of immediately. Speculation began last night when TV3's late night sports presenter Dobbo' broke the story on Nightline quoting a phone call from kiwi league Legend Gary Freeman. Apparently Freeman rang the network with the news of the shock resignation quoting impeccable sources. The speculation was at last confirmed today as Daniel Anderson fronted up to the media explaining how the Warriors tragic form this season spurred his decision to leave. Anderson however reaffirmed his commitment to the Kiwi's saying he had no intention to forgo their coaching position. There had been much talk as of late about a rift between many of the players and Anderson, but he dismissed the allegations saying that if the players were unhappy with his style of coaching, they certainly never came to him about it. Daniel Anderson leaves the Warriors as their most successful coach ever, having taking them to the NRL semis three years in a row (once of which lead to a grand final appearance). Sadly he will also be remembered by some as the man whose last tenure saw the warriors slump to there worst season ever. All the best Daniel hopefully you can rekindle your winning ways with the Kiwi League team later this year for the Tri-Series. Posted 4th June, 2004
