does display some smidgen of kindness and/or conscience every once and
a while.
TV: Everything
that Manga Hamel is not- he's quiet, reserved, serious, broody, and melancholy.
Background info: Hamel is the son of Pandora and Kestra,
and Sizer's twin brother. He is a "magical musician." His music has a reactionary
power on it's listeners to bid them do whatever he wants. He plays
on an overly large Violin which could easily be mistaken as a double bass.
It was an instrument given to him by his mother.
He is half demon and half human- marked by the small
horn on the top of his head which he keeps concealed beneath his hat.
He is "The Blood and Flesh of the Great Demon King." This reality creates
a lot of anxiety and strain on Hamel. The only person who so far
has been able to tame this demon impulse within him, and keep him from
turning completely over to his Mazoku side is Flute. He's determined
to prove that his human side can win over his demon side by going "North"
to defeat the Mazoku, and combat Kestra.

Instrumental Origin: Against popular belief, a "Raiel"
is actually a wind-up form of Organ/Piano that plays by itself.

Manga: Sensitive (especially
towards the opposite sex. ^^;), kind, caring, passionate, optimistic, but
also can be quick tempered, irresponsible and has a tendancy to carry grudges
against past offenses.
TV Series: Similar to the
manga- except not as melodramatic, and a bit more serious.
Background Info: Raiel grew up as Hamel's childhood friend,
but they were seperated at the great disaster of Ansem. In the manga, Raiel
meets Hamel with the intention of killing him because Raiel knows how dangerous
Hamel is- and thinks him nothing more than a blood thirsty demon (but that
idea soon gets turned around). In the TV series, Raiel has no idea
of Hamel's true nature when they first meet up again.
He was taught magical music also by Hamel's
mother, Pandora. He plays a large golden piano which he carries around
on his back, and he calls himself "The Warrior of Love." With his
piano he can call up elemental spirits to fight the Mazoku, his firebird
"Hi no Tori-kun" his a great friend. ^_^
He will eventually fall head over heels in
love with Sizer. But has always had an extreme "sensitivity" to members
of the opposite sex. Hamel loves to tease him about his past disasters
when trying to get a girlfriend. Most of them involving spraying
the girl with blood from a massive nosebleed. (manga only)

Manga: Genki and optimistic, trusting, imaginative,
caring, passionate, and protective, but can also be overemotional, gullible,

into extreme situations without thinking (eg. trying to fight a huge Mazoku
all by herself.)
TV Series: Must less headstrong. She's
super emotional, shrinks away from a fight, very sensitive and unable to
handle extreme situations.
Background info: Flute is the Princess of the Magical
Kingdom of Sforzando. She's the daughter of Queen Horn and some other
guy, and the younger sister of Prince Lute. Flute has no knowledge
of her heritage at the beginning of both TV series and Manga, though she
learns the truth in two very different ways.
While she doesn't play any sort of magical
music, she has the power to heal, which is a power granted to those of
the Sforzando royal bloodline. Her Royal heritage is marked by a
cross birthmark on her back, which appears when her body temperature rises
(such as when she takes a hot bath or gets embarassed).
She loves Hamel regardless of his nature
or how much of a bastard he is. Even when he treats her like crap,
she still follows him faithfully and with the utmost devotion to him and
his cause.

Manga: He comes off at first as being pretty spoiled.
Always waving his money around, etc. But the sad story of his homeland
soon comes out and you realize how sensitive and sweet a guy he really
is. He's determined, brave, optimistic and energetic, he's
got a sneaky conniving side too. He has a tendency to hold grudges,
and isn't too forgiving of past offences. .
TV Series: Pretty close to that of the manga.
But not as sneaky, or optimistic. Much more serious and acts a lot
more like an adult than a kid.
Background Info: He's the only son of Shrinx, King of
Dal Segno, the protecting country of Sphorzando. His family was killed
by the Mazoku and he'd managed to escape. Tron looks up to the memory
of his parents as his role models and wants to become a great swordsman
and knight to fullfill their wishes of him. He joins with Hamel's
party at first because he wants to have his revenge on the Mazoku that
destroyed his country and family.
Tron's skills are with the sword. He carries
three of them strapped to his back in the manga, his own, his father's,
and his mother's, which he treasures as the most important artifacts left
to him after their deaths. While he pretends to be a great sword
champion, he's still just learning swordplay but does show that he's capable
of kicking Mazoku butt once in a while when the group is in a pinch.

TV Series: Um-- make it VERY serious, VERY
devoted, and VERY intelligent with much less acknowledgement on his vanity,
but he still looks super bishonen. ^_~
Background Info: Clarinet is the Captain of Sforzando's
magical Army Corps, also High Priest and is Queen Horns "Protector."
He has some very strong magical skills, including a form of exploding magic,
creating vortexes, and any other number of very useful spells against enemies.
In addition, he has the ability to teleport different places.
He's a scholar, and the older brother of Coronet,
whom he has great affection for and is very protective of. He and
Hamel don't get off on a very good foot after they meet, especially in
the manga, when Hamel calls him his "Homo-niichan." He likes to make a
great show of his power, often making very dramatic entrances. He
loves Queen Horn very dearly, she'd raised him since he was a child,
and taught him magic.

is NOT- she's serious, straightforward, and not very good humored.
Background Info: Cornet is Clarinet's younger sister.
She loves and looks up to her brother as a sort of role model. In
the manga she has a tremendous crush on Hamel, and absolutely HATES Flute
because Flute is the main object of Hamel's affections. Cornet's
prone to a lot of very interesting fantasies, she has a very overactive
imagination. Most of them involve her defeat of "Evil Princess Flute"
and winning Hamel's affections. She has a Flute voodoo doll in her
room with pins sticking out of it, and a huge shrine to Hamel that she
dotes upon.
She's a Sorceress in Training, so often
times the spells that she tries always backfire due to an insight on her
part or just plain stupidity. ^^;

Manga: Kind, magnanimous,

Seemingly unfeeling at times but has the unwaivering courage and determination
to keep fighting to protect Sforzando and the world from the Shadow of
the Mazoku.
Background Info. Queen Horn is the mother of Princess
Flute and Prince Lute, and the Queen of the magical kingdom of Sforzando.
Like all females in the royal family, she is bestowed with a healing magic,
but with that magic comes a price, as she heals others it drains away her
own life. In the manga she's sick from the begining and grows steadily
weaker as time progresse. It is less evident in the TV series.
Her personality was changed just
as much as Hamel's was from manga to TV series. In the manga she welcomes
Flute home with so much warmth and trust and caring and is all a mother
should be. But in the TV series she treats her as a total stranger
and is very cold and calculating towards her daughter.
In the manga she serves Hamel
and his group an informer on the enemies tactics and approach, which she
can determine with her magic and a crystal ball. She tells them where
to go and what they must do, and serves as a guide and councillor in troubled
times.

intelligent, wise, resourceful, warmhearted and friendly, but more serious
and probably the only character that doesn't goof off or act idiodic at
any point in the manga that I can find.
TV Series: More
serious,of fewer words than in the manga.
Background Info: Obo is Ocarina's father, a long time
ago he was the Northern Capital's Hawk King. He has a human form like Ocarina
but chooses to stay a bird for reasons of his own. Obo fell in love
with Pandora and when the Mazoku came to take little Sizer away he betrayed
the Mazoku and tried to protect them. He is now Hamel's primary companion
and has the air of knowing way more than he lets on. He's the one
that everyone goes to for advice and knowledge.
He doesn't have any apparent powers
or magic except speech, but his resourcefullness and wisdom is invaluable
to the group. He acts in a way as Hamel's conscience, and is his
only friend before Hamel meets Flute. I'm guessing, but I think out
of respect and love for Pandora, Obo has taken it upon himself to protect
Hamel and set him in the direction of doing what's right, and keeping him
from turning to the Mazoku side.He's been with Hamel ever since Hamel's
childhood.

Manga: From what I've gatherd from Flashbacks
of her life with Hamel and Raiel, she's caring, loving, and motherly, but
also irrational and has a tendency to lean towards the extreme. She's also
very brave, and has a strong will.
TV Series: You don't really know
because she's in the crystal most of the time, but she seems everything
that an ideal mother stands for.
Background Info: Pandora is the mother of Hamel and Sizer.
She fell in love with Kestra, who turned out to be the Great Demon King
(talk about bad luck). She's also the fabled woman who opened the
box and released all the evil that is in the world.
Sizer was stolen from her
by the Mazoku when she was just a tiny baby, leaving Pandora to raise up
Hamel. She taught Hamel and Raiel both Magic Music in hopes that
someday, they would be equiped enough to stand up to Kestra and the Mazoku,
and save Sizer.
When Hamel was about six
years old the Mazoku came to claim their "successor," Pandora alone stood
up to them to protect Hamel. Bass eventually sealed her in a crystal
and took her back to Hameln, where throughout both Anime and Manga she
is seen in that same serene pose, aware of what is going on around her
but unable to do or say anything.

absolutely no mercy, did I already say cruel?
Lute's real personality- Kind, caring, generous, loves children,
animals, peacefulness, he's optimistic and energetic, and very smart.
TV series: Almost exactly
the same as the manga. The only difference is that Lute talks along
with the head. So the two voices are in eerie unison.
Background Info: Hell King Bass is the Mazoku's number
1 General, and the *head* of all the other Mazoku kings (Head-- get it?
HA HA! I kill me...). During the first Sforzando war, Bass fought
against Prince Lute and in the manga version, Lute blew his head off.
But the head was still alive enough to possess Lute, and now Lute carries
the head and is a complete puppet, forced to bend to Bass's will.
Lute himself, is Flute's
older brother and the Prince of Sforzando, he's considered to be the most
powerful sorcerer in the realm. And with a kind, caring, generous
heart to match. But during the fight with Bass, he suffered greately,
in the end getting his soul taken. It was replaced with another fake
soul (perhaps part of Bass's own), to make him Bass's marrionette.
Bass uses Lute's magic in combination with his own to make him one seriously
difficult adversary.
Sometimes, Lute will free
himself from Bass's mental control to do some short but sweet mischief,
but never for more than a few seconds. Usually in relationship to Flute,
the Prince can have some independent thought, but is never in enough control
to stay that way for long.

Personality Traits: Crafty, probably the most intelligent
of the Mazoku Kings, cunning, and vicious in both Manga and Anime.
Background Info: Guitar is the Fourth Mazoku King, the
Warrior who is in control of the "Beast Corps." He's the Mazoku's
most skilled swordsman and has a huge collection of all sorts of different
swords that do all sorts of different and very paintful things. He wears
Spartan type armor, and the lower half of his body is this deer/dog thingy
with hoofs. I guess you could say he's a dog riding a dog.
He likes to work from the shadows, letting others do his dirty work and
then stepping in to take control at the right moment to set himself on
top. That's probably the main reason why he's managed to live through
all 30 manga's so far from the very begining. He's intelligent, and
always has a plan, he's great at brown nosing and he'll turn on anyone
in an instant if it's to his advantage.

Manga: Quiet, thoughtful, can
be rather morbid, when she is with the Mazoku, she's filled with anger,
respite, and jealousy, she's a fearless fighter who is not afraid to die.
But inside of her there is a sense of loneliness, she has no friends except
for Ocarina. When good, she's very cute in the fact that she knows nothing
of the human world, or human ways. She's also of very few words, so tends
to be rather shy. She doesn't like lots of attention.
TV Series: I'm not sure about
all of this, but from what I can deduce from her character in the TV series
so far, she's a lot like the manga. Only more cruel, and haughtier than
her manga persona.
Background Info: Sizer is the twin sister of Hamel, daughter
of Kestra and Pandora. She was considered to be the third Hell King, in
command of the Hawk Troops. She's got Kestra's Angel blood and this
accounts for the fact that she has white wings. When working for
the Mazoku, they are stained red with blood from all her victims that she's
killed, earning her the title "The Red Witch of Hameln." Sizer was
stolen from Pandora when she was only a baby, because the Mazoku believed
that she would someday have the means to open the box for them. Bass fed
her with lies of her family from the time she was a small child.
Telling her that her mother abandoned her and favored her twin brother
Hamel, of Demonic blood, over her Angel blood. He told her that no
one wanted her in the human realm, only the Mazoku would raise her. That
she was unloved by all. Sizer took this to heart, and was raised
to hate her mother, Hamel, and all humans that had forsaken her.
She is also gifted
with playing magic music, her scythe doubles as a Flute. In battle she
uses it to call upon "spirits" that help her fight. Nine individual Valkyries
appear wielding huge lances and make quite an impressive fighting force.
She will eventually
turn a new leaf and realize that she's been made a pawn by Bass.
After joining Hamel's party in the manga, She finds a close companion in
Raiel, who is head over heels in love with her. Sizer-sama has good
taste in boyfriends... too bad she doesn't realize (or make any show
of recieving) his affections for her until movement 123 . ^_~

Personality Traits: impatient, haughty, self centered,
foolhardy, dense as a brick and twice as thickheaded (in both Manga and
Anime). He's got an incredible temper, and is prone to extreme violence.
Background Info: He's one of those Mazoku who's
been there from the very begining, and while he's stupid and always likes
to dive head first into battle without thinking, he's an adversary to be
weary of because he's VERY strong. Drum commands the Mazoku's Dragon
Corps. and he's considered number two among the Kings.
He has nothing but brute strength working for him,
and always thinks everything is solved by use of violence. He wields
two giant Mace type weapons that can cause enormous destructive power.
Plus, his body houses 8 fierce dragon heads attached to long thick necks
that come out of his arms at his calling. He only cares about himself
and has little regard for any of the other Hameln generals, with the exception
of Bass, who has to use Magic to get his attention and make him behave.

TV: I haven't seen her in the
TV yet, but from what I hear- she's crazy, totally psychotic and very VERY
loyal to Sizer.
Background Info: Ocarina is the daughter of Obo, and
she raised Sizer after she was taken to Hameln as a baby. Like Obo
took care of Hamel, Ocarina did the same with Sizer. Sizer's loyalties
are Ocarina's loyalties, in other words... Ocarina is a bad guy when Sizer
is, and vice versa. She became both Sizer's mother, and best friend and
has stayed by Sizer's side the entire time, protecting her and serving
her faithfully in whatever duty Sizer orders her to do. She is seen first
as a bird but once her human form is revealed she chooses to remain the
later.
Ocarina has a certain form of exploding magic
that she uses in battle to make her a very worthy adversary.

Personality Traits: Inherently evil, diabolical, always
psychotically happy, sado-masochistic, violent sense of humor, and has
VERY little patience. Self serving with absolutely no loyalty to
anyone but himself, even Kestra.
Background info: Long ago, Vocal was in line to
be one of the top "Hell Kings." But he didn't believe in Kestra's leadership
and wanted the role for himself. He had (and still has) absolutely
no regard for any life save his own. He's killed humans and Mazoku
alike and with great joy simply because he loves the feeling of killing.
Vocal was the only Mazoku that could have stood up to Kestra's power at
the time, and after a huge power struggle he was eventually sealed away
in the Hameln dungeon.
500 years later, Bass awakens Vocal in hopes that
Vocal can achieve what the other Hameln generals could not. (finding a
means to awaken Hamel's demon blood) But to keep Vocal's power in
check, he's sealed most of that power away in a ball that is attached to
a chain around Vocal's wrist, whenever he gets the urge to try and kill
a Mazoku the ball becomes unbearably heavy and he cannot move an inch.
Clad in black leather, with the whole
bondage/chains/spikes/ getup, Vocal is one very difficult adversary for
Hamel's group to overcome. Even with most of his power sealed he's
unimaginably strong and fierce, with an exploding magic that can level
an entire city easily in one blow.

Orgel (Manga only character)
Instrumental Origin: After much debate on the ML, I'm convinced it
means "Music Box"

Age: ? Very old
Blood Type: ? It would be Human type, because he animates
a dead human body.
Personality Traits: He's crafty, cunning, a trickster
with a sense of humor. Enjoys playing practical jokes. But
turns into a coward once his true "identity" and therefore weakness is
revealed.
Background Info: He calls himself the "Netherworlds Clown."
Orgel is called upon by Bass to awaken Hamel's Mazoku blood. He's
a powerful villain to contend with when the Hamel party doesn't know exactly
how to fight him. He animates a dead boy's body, and therefore can't
die. They'll discover later, that Orgel's true identity is in fact
the mask that covers the boys face. He's helpless without any
sort of body to control.
Orgel plays a harp, and has the
power of Necromancy, raising souls from the dead and bends those souls
to his whims. He gets a tremendous kick out of raising the souls
of the dead that Hamel's party have killed (Hamel and Sizer) and tormenting
them.
Later in the manga he becomes
Vocal's sidekick, mostly as comic relief because he's deathly afraid of
Vocal- and wouldn't dare oppose him.

Daimou Kestra (Great Demon Lord Kestra)

Blood Type: (I'm guessing judging from Hamel and Sizer's

Personality Traits: ?? Unknown really. He seemed
to be a careing, kind hearted man before he became the Demon Lord.
But as the Demon Lord (in the manga) He's trully and completely evil. There's
no maybe's about it, he's "bad."
Background Info: Sizer and Hamel's father. He has
a mix of Demon and Angel blood. Before he was the Great Demon King,
He was a famer and met and fell in love with Pandora. I'm still in
the dark as to how he ended up the Demon King and got sucked into Pandora's
Box. But that's where he is and where Hamel and company hope to keep
him. He's shrouded in mystery, except for the fact that his power
is supposedly unparallel and true misery would come to the human world
if he is ever set loose. In the manga continuity, he actually does
get freed by manga 26. He wants to kill both Hamel and Sizer and
drink their blood in order to regain his full strength and launch his reign of terror over all the lands.
