The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan July 22-23, 2002 stormed
through Washington, DC beginning with a news conference at the
National Press Club reporting on his recent excursion into the Middle
East and Africa. The following day, the Nation of Islam leader met on
Capitol Hill at the invite of Congressman John Conyers, Dean of the
Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and briefed several members of the
CBC including reps. Maxine Waters, Earl Hilliard, Sanford Bishop,
Cynthia McKinney, Julia Carson, Carolyn Kilpatrick, Sheila
Jackson-Lee, Gregory Meeks, Mel Watts, and Eva Clayton on his peace
mission.

Farrakhan has often been
criticized for his inflammatory rhetoric, which includes calling
Judaism a "gutter religion" and Hitler a great man, and referring to
Jewish, Arab and Asian businessmen in black communities as
"bloodsuckers."

Note:
Beltway Sniper Nation of Islam Farrakhan convert.
"Those who knew him never
said ugly things about his conduct or his behavior," Nation of Islam
leader Louis Farrakhan said, acknowledging that suspected D.C.-area
sniper John Allen Muhammad is a member of the NOI, a group that
combines Islam with Black nationalism. |
