"A Breif Courtship with Death"

Death knocked on my door today.

We went for a walk to the river.

I gazed into her cold dead eyes and felt her compassionate embrace.

Death and I went for a swim today.

Her cold arms held me tightly as I cried and gasped in the murky, icy water.

I let her hold me as tightly as she wanted.

Death introduced me to a friend today.

I didn't catch her name.

Her eyes were filled with love

Death let me leave her domain today.

I wanted to come inside and stay a while.

She spared me the heartache.

Death walked home with me today.

We smiled at each other as we parted.

Her hand slipped gently from mine as she carressed my mouth

with the perfection of a kiss to remember her.

Death saved my soul today.

I cried for her sake.

Her sweet smell still lingers on my clothes.

Death loved me on this day.
