Meet "The Mansions"

A Fan's Narative on the Dealings with a Band on the Way Up

Now, I know all you Numanoids are wondering just who these blokes are, and what they're doing on my webpage. Well, don't get you undies in a bundle, I'm about to explain, as it's a rather odd circumstance.

As many of you know I have a Bowie page floating about on the net. (It's a crap page; script errors I can't even begin to fix, bad alignment, bottom of first page webring damaged beyond repair. It was my first.) Anyway, one of the Mansions stumbled across my Bowie page, for some reason liked it, and gave me an e-mail, politely inviting me to check out their site, and have a listen to the music thay have up for display there. I must admit I was rather dubious at first. It's not everyday a girl from WV get's an e-mail from a rather established band asking for a link, and an invation to their site.

So, anywho, I shuffled on over to their site, plunked my bum down for a few hours to poke about, and began to listen to their music. I sampled all four of their songs in order. (They only had four up at the time) The first was "Brave New World". I remember thinking. "Wow this is pretty damn good." Then came "Rock and Roll" and I was hooked.

(Eddie O: Vocals)

I listened to the other two songs "Z28" and "Oblivious" and then waited patiantly for the promo video of "Little Atomic Bomb" to load. (Which amazed me to no end.) I had to have the CD, there was no question about it. How, was the only problem. As I don't have a credit card of any sort, and ran about for a couple of days begging people to lend me theirs if I would pay them for the use of it. "No." seemed to be the most common answer. Finaly my father gave in and told me he would order it for me. I was exuberant. I went to the Mansions site for probably the hundredth time, and left a silly little post about how my father had ordered the cd for me, and how I couldn't wait for it to arrive in the mail. Little did I know my father had yet to actually go and buy it. I was left looking a bit like a fool, as they (obviously) had no record of my (so called) purchase.

(*Still thinks there should be more pics of Johnny on their website*)

But, someone came through for me. (Wish I knew persons name as am almost sure was not one of the band members. Maybe the guy 'Wolf' who runs their page.) I was sent a press kit including CD, video promo, and some other goodies. (I later bought another CD anyway, have yet to unwrap it, LoL, will give it to someone eventualy, as soon as I see the person again.) So, now I had the CD. I was even more impressed with them after listining to the full thing. I of course (way before I even got the CD) gave them a link on my now non-updated Bowie page, and decided to give them a classy link on my much better Numan Page. I wrote them an e-mail tellng them that I had snitched a graphic off their site for a link, and gave them the URL for "Absolution". Turns out that they are Numan fans too. (At least I know Chris is.)Don't that beat all?

(Jeff Rodriguez: Bass)

So, anywho, I seemed to strike up a long distance friendship with two of the band members Johnny, and Chris. ;) Over the course of a few weeks we moderatly e-mailed each other back and forth. I ended up getting one of the fan spots on their page. I was actually the second or third one they put up. I consider it a place of honor. They linked "Absolution" which was still in it's baby stages at this point. And we kept up with the e-mails.

It wasn't long before another unuaual thing happened. (Not that being contacted by a band instead of vice versa wasn't odd enough.) I was contacted by a man named Craig from a British radio station telling me that he had seen a post of mine on "The Mansions" guest book and that he wanted me to record my voice supporting the band. Despite my fear of sounding stupid I did as I was instructed. I recorded a nice little message, that will be played somewhere over in the UK, and I didn't even have to leave home.

It get's cooler. I've been told by Chris, that they've decided to dedicate a song they have written to me. It's described to me as "Numanesque". (Which should please you Numanoids.) Now there is no possible way to describe my emotions about this in words. It's beyond cool for me. A bit like winning the lottery. Of course, I'd actually have to win the lottery before I actually know how even that feels. But I digress. Chris told me that they are going to be putting it ("Midnight" is the title) up on their site soon, and I'll post something when they do. This is so cool!

I have since heard my song, but it won't be released for a month or so. I can tell you that it's wonderful. But I'm not going to go into detail as I don't want to spoil the fun. You'll just have to wait for them to release it, or better yet, go to a show and hope that you'll hear it.

There's been a new development since I forst created this page. It seems that within a day or two I am to be interviewed by a lady named Cindy, who is doing a press release for "The Mansions". I am looking forward to helping out again. I will write something more after the tele interview. I'll try to describe what it will be said.

And that's where it stands now. I'm waiting for more stuff to happen, while shoving "Charms for Love and Revenge" at all of my friends, family, and basicaly anyone who will listen. (I know that I've sold three so far..)

Now I know this wasn't the sort of bio most of you were expecting. What it really is, is a short (for me) narative of my dealings with what's going to be the next big thing. I figured if you want a bio the best place to go is to "The Mansions" actual homepage, which I have linked below. I strongly suggest you check them out, and buy their CD, because they are really quite superb. I'll write more as things progress. One of these days I'm actually going to get out to L.A. and see them play. But being the poor college student that I am, that day is still a ways off. They'll probably be big giant super rock stars by the time I save up enough cash, and I'll never get to meet them in person. Or, maybe they'll remember me and I'll get back stage. I'm really quite fond of this fan thing. To bad a person can't be a professional fan, I think I would excel.
