NEKEAS CRIANZA
| When we look
at la dolce vita, one beverage comes into mind. A drink that couples sophistication and
simplicity, a drink that can show others the kind of person you really are, a drink that
will tell others that you know the life. That drink is wine. With this in mind, clublife
is launching a platform for bi-weekly wine reviews, specially done by our in-house wine
connoisseurs and guest writers. In this premier issue of winelife, we will review a wine from the region of Navarra in Spain. NEKEAS CRIANZA ¡V Nevarra The wine cellar at Bodegas e Viñedos Nekeas is situated on top of a small hill overlooking the vineyards at Añorbe, in the heart of Valdizarbe, Navarra. The 230 hectare vineyard is planted on red and grey clay soils. This blend of 50% cabernet, 35% tempranillo and 15% merlot, lightly crushed with cold maceration for 5 to 10 days before fermentation is aged for 12 to 13 months in French and American oak barrels; it is from a highly commendable 2002 vintage. Indeed, it is a fruity, rich and stylish wine for the young and sophisticated adults.Taste Test A lovely deep smell of blackfruits and a touch of roses. It's packed with flavour that seems to gradually unfold on your tongue- blackberries, vanilla and a touch of spice. This medium bodied wine is smooth on the palate and the after-taste leaves one wanting for more. Goes well with: Lamb and rich red meats Spicy dishes Just drinking on its own ¡@ When to drink: Over the next 12 months. This wine is not suitable for further aging beyond the above stated time. |
