Another awesome CC RTT,
what can I say? Three awesome
battles with three
great guys.
Game 1:
Johnny Salinas' Brets
The Boyz hauled a new batch of Black Orc
Bock Lite up to Bretonnia,
looking
to try
the oomie market again. Annoyed by haughty way in
which the Brets
informed
him that beer was for peasants, Facebeater TA TEACH
'EM SUM MANNERZ!
A
jackknifed 18 wheeler on I-10 meant I couldn't play my round 1 challenge
with Dave
T, so I hooked up with Johnny. Johnny won worst dice at the end,
and it
started in this game. Mork favored my chukkas early,
and Johnny
seemed to
roll a 9 when he needed an 8 and a 10 when he needed a 9 on Ld
check
after Ld check. The uppity oomies having been shown wot's wot, the
Brewery
train headed back to the badlands for game 2...
Win 18
points.
Game 2:
Luke Schnell's O&G
It seems
that this sneakin git named
Grishnak felt like 'e didn't need ta
pay fer 'is brew. Time fer a collekshun visit, Ladz! Facebeater and the
boyz set out to convince Grishnak
that he needed to pay his bills in a more
timely manner.
Wow, what
a game. Luke had just beat Jim, so it was time to defend the
good name
of Bailey. First magic phase, first cast, I called on Gork
to
grant me
an irresistable, and lo, my prayer was granted! And
in grand
fashion,
the resulting Warpath stomped about five units. Weakening his
left
flank just enough that a combination of chariots, wolf units and
chukkas
loaded on it were able to roll it. But, favors of Gork
do not come
without a
price. I miscast the next three turns in a row. Fortunately the
results
were mild, just costing me a few magic levels and spells. I just
had to
hold off a late thrust by Luke to preserve the win.
Having
collected wots due from Girshnak,
the Brewery Boyz cast their eyes
on the
untapped markets of the Chaos Wastes...
Win 16
points
Game 3:
Brian Lee's beastmen
Having finally given up hope of coming up with a formula
weak enough for
pansy
human's to consume, Shiznit decided to try the beastman tribes. The
drinking
capacity of the centigors was legendary. With Facebeater to
ensure
that the sales pitch was received proper, Shiznit had
confidence da
teef would start pouring in once more. They had better,
as Facebeater was
startin' to make noise about wanting to
"renegotiate" his contract....
Wow what
a game. Brian and I were on table 2, and Ogre Daddy and Mike G
were on
table 1. A draw by those two would open the door for either Brian
or I to
steal overall. It was the scenario where you get points for
getting your
own units off the opposite table edge. Because his beast
units
would have to go off the board on the opposite edge from the one they
came on,
Brian elected not to ambush. I didn't even bother worrying about
getting
units off, I knew to win I would have to beat his beastmen
to a
pulp.
Brian has a hard but very compy list- some khorne minotaurs,
a unit
of khorne gors, a giant, a couple
spawn, and 3-4 herds with wargors. 8
dispel
dice, but no scrolls or spells. I managed to bait Brian into
deploying
his minos and khorne gors where they couldn't
be used to full
effect,
but Brian quickly overcame that. My chukkas were dead on, riddling
his Giant
until it had only 2 wound left. Then I got overconfident, and
charged his
giant with my fully healthy one so i could turn my
chukkas on
his minos. My giant charged, swung
with club, and Brian made his I test!
Yikes!
Then he headbutts Fat Bastard and scores a wound,
robbing fat
bastard
of attacks for the next round! Aaahhh! Following
round his giant
swings
with club and of course, I fail my I test and get squished.
NOOOOOO!!!
A valuable lesson learned- don't send your giant against
another
Giant, you never know what may happen.
Things
were going very well for me, and I managed to set up his generals
herd for
a crushing flank charge and ran him down. My snotlings
actually
ran down
another herd. Things were going well enough that I got very
careless.
We finished turn 4 and 15 minutes was called. We decided to try
to
squeeze one more turn. I was so busy setting up final charges and
getting
to final spells and chukka shots that I forgot to move one unit
forward
to claim an open quarter. Brian had a quarter and took a standard,
which
resulted in a final score differential of 263 points- a draw by 37
freaking
points! AAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!
So
instead of 17 points, I got 11.
Sigh.
But
unlike bad dice, I have only myself to blame for getting careless.
When I
looked at the final score, it appeared that that draw cost me a
share of
overall, but after further review I still would have come up a
point
short, but here's the kicker:
Brian got
Best General over me by one freakin' point!!!!! You
bastard!
I WILL
HAVE MY REVENGE ON YOU LEE!!!! :)
A grudge
match with a capital G is coming on that one, my friend!!!
An
awesome day, and great games. Can't wait for Schulenberg!
