Read on for a quick and dirty battle report.

My Empire:

I only remember general stuff (besides deployment, maybe more will
come to me). I went first. 3 houses in each deployment zone (6"x8"),
fountain in center of table. Terrain made shooting problematic. 1)
couldn't make firing line with my gunners. War machines had limited
view around the side of the houses.
On my left, chariot and knights on far left (left of house 1).
Maurauder 1 and Warriors in next gap, dragon behind middle house, and
last maurauder in next gap, nothing to far right.
For me, spearmen with War Priest (and crossbow/Free Company detach)
and cannon to far left. Elector Count with spearmen (and
archer/halberd detach) in gap 2. Cannon and gunners in next gap (2
detach with swordsmen). Knights to far right with mortar.
Magic flux scenerio. he had 4/3 power/dispel, I had 4/4. ONly time I
gave him more than one die was once in my magic phase. maybe 2 spells
worked all game. did not have any dispel scrolls. must remember to
check list before submitting it....

shooting in first 2 turns takes out 2 knights (cannon) and a few
maurauders. Mortar was unusually tempermental or couldn't see
anything (T 3-5). Yes, the mortar does need to see it's target.
blaster in turn 2 could only wound 2 knights, both saved. knights
then charged my spearmen with war priest and crossbow detach,
eventually killing enough to win and run them down. don't rememer the
free company dying, but they did. blaster killed in last turn(5) by
sorcerer after taking out chariot in turn 4.

dragon lands by my EC w/ spearmen in turn 2 and kills many with 2
breath weapons, they flee. dragon caused no terror in my next turn
(the detachments decide to stay.) EC unit rally. he charges
halberdiers with dragon and lord. Halberds take 2 casualties and
stay. EC/spear unit charges next turn. He calls out EC, EC does no
wounds, is killed but we win combat by 5 or 6, he flees. don't catch.
Hit dragon with cannon in last turn (large target baby!) At some
point Warriors charge archers, but take 3 turns of combat before they
run and are cut down. unit of gunners try to flank warriors and are
run off.

Knights get to maurauder unit in turn 3, break them in HTH after
another round, don't catch, they rally, we charge again, win and
finally run them down. taking me into his left quarter (which is now
empty).

Swordsmen never see action, take my right quarter. Other gunner
detach got out to take his right quarter.

VP: me- 465pts, banner(100), 3 quarters (300) = 865
him- 930 pts, banner (100), kill general (100) = 1130

closer than I thought it was, but still a loss. Ok, I remembered
more.
