Hindu Dharma

AUM, or also known as OM, the main holy symbol of Hinduism.Hindu Dharma is the religion and way of life of Hinduism. The concept of culture and religion being separate is a modern idea. To the ancients religion and culture were inseparable. Religion is the closest English word to the Sanskrit  word dharma, but it means far more then this. Dharma also means duty, and purpose. Dharma is culture which is guided by spirituality. Dharma also pertains to the unique reason for the existence of every being and thing in creation.

Inner Peace

When we come to understand and follow our dharma then we will feel a profound sense of inner peace. It is this sense of peace that Hinduism seeks to achieve. Hinduism is a series of philosophies and practices for finding this inner peace and thus for understanding dharma.

Many Ways

Just as there are many ways to achieve this goal of inner peace and understanding of dharma, so too there are many many many practices and philosophies that make up Hinduism. Many of these philosophies and practices conflict with each other due to the vastness of the ocean that is Hinduism and the endless variety of means towards achieving this state of inner peace and dharma, otherwise known as moksha or spiritual liberation.

It is this vastness which can make delving into Hinduism very confusing for those not brought up in it.
