1957 saw the United Kingdom
competing for the first time, with a song which had the same
theme as Dana's "All Kinds Of Everything".
Unfortunately Patricia Bredin wasn't on stage for long, 1 minute
52 seconds to be precise, which is the shortest ever song to be
performed at Eurovision. Ironically it was followed by one of the
longest songs ever performed, Italy's 5 minute 9 second epic -
even though the rulebook stated songs should be no more than 3
minutes 30 seconds in length.
Germany's song "Telfon, Telefon" was the first of many
to introduce different languages into the lyrics, and to use the
telephone as the main theme.
