Another tradition of eurovision started in 1958, when the biggest song performed on the night did not win. Italy's entry "Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu" sang by Domenico Modugno came 3rd, and is better known as "Volare", and topped the American charts, and was the first Eurovision song to enter the British top ten. It sold millions around the world, and won Domenico Modugno a Grammy Award for best male vocal performance, as well as song of the year, and record of the year.
