When the 1968 contest got under way, the only question being asked was, "Who was going to come second to Cliff Richard" ?. The song was Congratulations, and was riding high in the charts all over Europe, and was soon to become Cliff's 9th British number 1. The contest was the first to be broadcast in colour, and the entrants dressed to take advantage, wearing green, yellow, and pink mini skirts, bright blue suits, and dazzling jewelry. The voting was quite bizzare, and ended with Spain taking the title, 1 point ahead of Cliff Richard, much to the audiences disgust.
