Many of the songs of 1990 had a "Feel good, things are getting better" theme, as changes were happening to Eastern Europe. Titles such as "Give A Little Love Back To The World", "Brandenburger Tor", "Music Rings Around The World", "Free To Live", "No More Walls", and the winner "Unite Europe", batled it out for the political votes on the night. Italy came out triumphant, even though Terry Wogan said during his commentary, that he thought the song stood "No chance of winning".
