The European history began in Isernia
Incredible! About 700/800 thousand years ago a tribe of "Homines Erecti" took their stand in the place "La Pineta" near Isernia, building a camp. The things the "Homo Aeserniensis" was able to do have astonished the scientists of the world: a "Homo Erectus" anticipated 300/400 thousand years the abilities and the activities of the "Homo Sapiens". The environment: a grassland with big and rare trees which extend over a hilly territory crossed by the lazy rivers course that during the rainy season was filled with water and overflowed making some marshes around it: the zone enjoyed a mild climate with alternate periods of dryness and raininess and 
was practiced by some buffalos and elephants and rhinoceros; the hippopotami splashed in the slimy rivers stream; in the humidity of the slopes deer and boars pastured and the sly bear wandered about long the hills. This place, however, was the theatre of terrible collision clash between man and the brutal strenghts of nature undergoing violent transformations, devasted by some volcanic eruptions, cataclysms, floods.
In this apocalyptic landscape, "Isernia's man" conducted his titanic struggle for survival. The first inhabitants of Italy settled in camps built on establishments made with travertine blocks, flat bones of animals (bisons, elephants and hippopotamus); on this base, assembled in a circular form, some huts supported by elephant's tusks and covered by bear's skins emerged. In short they had created a real "urban" structure. They knew the fire, that lighted the darkness, heate bodies, softened meat and sent sway wild animals. The trails of ocher that were found on the pebbles witness a not really esthetic but at least decorative need, made either for fun or for curiosity hardly outlined signs of an individuality which began their journey towards the discovery of the "couscions ego". The Isernia's tribe probably had a code of linguistic communication, something more than inarticulate gestural expressiveness or vocal articulation, considered as the engagement of coordinate energies and of maiter-of-fact intelligence carried out by this human groups forerunner of the story of mankind.
