September 2005 Adventures at Norman Wilderness

During several trips to the Norman Wilderness during September, there were a lot of interesting things to see.

Fascicled False Foxglove, a common Southern Plains prairie wildflower.

Liatris blooming against the characteristic red soil.

Prairie Larkspur.

Prairie Snow-on-the-Mountain.

A carniverous dragonfly that was catching butterflies.

Glossy Snake.

An unidentified red-backed jumping spider.

A Tarantula Hawk--these parasitize tarantulas.

Rough Green Snake climbing a tree. It is strange to have arboreal snakes around.

Another Rough Green Snake against the red soil.

Yet another Rough Green Snake on the trail.
