A community center

The Dwight neighborhood lacks a place for people to come together. A community center would be a point of intersection for all ages and a place for residents to come together for community organizing around issues that concern them. Such a center will not only foster a greater sense of community, but also be a place where I, if elected, would be able to organize forums to hear the concerns of constituents.

Innovative ideas for entertainment

I hope to bring in more entertainment businesses to our area. Some innovative ideas include a roller skating rink or an arcade, which would help keep kids of the streets. A movie theater with first-run movies would provide a fun, safe activity for teenagers at night. Billiards and bowling are other venues that would liven our neighborhood. Specifically, the lower part of Goffe Street has been neglected, and would be an excellent location for any of these venues I've described.

Playgrounds and parks

The parks in Dwight and Dixwell are poorly maintained and have little more than grass in them. Playground equipment, benches, and tables would attract more neighborhood residents to the parks. Flower planting would bring the community together and make the neighborhood a place where everyone would want to live.
