Patty Zimmerman for Juneau Mayor

Problems with the media

Juneau Empire
Is this story about how Patty's rival Sally Smith went on 1 blind date with George W. Bush over 25 years ago really worthy of the front page placement it recieved on 9/3/00? Why did the Empire wait to print the story until after Sally had announced she is running for mayor? Wasn't it just as timely beforehand or was there a hidden motive for placing Sally's photo in a domineering position?
Patty's response to the empire regarding this issue.

Last year the League of women voters edited the municipal debates before they were aired on television. The editing disparaged certain candidates, Patty Zimmerman namely.

I've been criticized for answering the newspaper's questions about my influences with information about my family. My family members are considered influential by professionals who study anthropology, psychology, political science etc. because of their degrees and high standing in well paid and respected professions. I wanted Juneau to know that I come from a well-educated and connected background.

Superintendent of Schools Gary Bader made the poor choice of attacking me personally instead of the research performed by the Juneau Energy Advisory Committee regarding the expense incurred in heating the high school. ($1.4 million annually)

"The Capital City Weekly" featured a free interview with Mr. Parsons in the very same September edition that I paid over $2,000 to advertise in.
My e-mail to "The Capital City Weekly" regarding the weekly 200 word question for Mayoral Candidates was NOT RECEIVED by that paper at 10:30 a.m. on September 11th. Two identicle, separate e-mails were sent secretly (BCC) to two separate e-mail addresses at exactly the same time. The deadline for the essay was at noon. Former Mayor Jamie Parsons is associated with the director of operations for PTI communications in Juneau. PTI handles e-mail for The Capital City Weekly. PTI listed my unlisted phone number in their directory this year. Former Mayor Parsons had a crisp, fresh essay in his hand at 12:45 p.m. on 9/11 as he entered the offices of The Capital City Weekly that seemed to evidence prior knowledge of the contents of my essay.

The toxic waste site that was purchased to place the Riverbend Elementary School on was purchased by the city during the time that Jamie Parsons worked for the City. Land was purchased from a party with close association to the Riverbend School Land by Parsons to place the Juneau Raquet Club on for what some Real Estate Experts consider to be a deflated price.
