Do
you feel the waters rising
That
would try to overtake
your soul?
There
is one who will be there for
you,
And
will keep you safe within the
fold.
No
flood shall overtake you
If
in his arms you remain,
He
calmed yesterday's troubled
waters
Today,
He can still do the
same.
He
still walks on the waters
In
the midst of all your storms,
And
he still speaks "peace be
still."
As
he keeps you safe from all
alarm.
Though
life has many problems
And
everyone has cares along the
way,
If
we lean on the arms of Jesus,
There
will always be a better day.

Do
you remember the old hymn
which is entitled "No
Never Alone?"
The
words of the verses to this
song are so true as to
God's promises.
Do
you ever feel alone or that
the waters of this life are
about to overtake
you? If so, we
have promises which God
gives and one is to be with
us; so
we are never
alone. He will be
with us at all times and see
us through whatever
comes our way. Although
this was written for Israel at
this time
period, the meanings can also
be applied to our lives if we
walk by faith with
Jesus each day.
The
enemy is referred to as
"coming in like a
flood" or as a flood
would
wash away everything in it's
path. A flood can do
much damage
in
the natural, and we know the
enemy of our soul is out to
kill, steal, and
destroy. There are
usually warnings before a
flood, and so we will have
warnings
in our life at times of
adversity, temptation, or
pending dangers.
Rivers
rise before they reach flood
stage and we can see from the
waters there
may be a possible flood
approaching. In the
natural, when we let down our
spiritual
guard,
the enemy begins to occupy
territory that should be the
Lord's. We cannot give
the enemy ground
to enter in by failing to obey
the Lord's commands and
neglecting our souls.
We
are to guard our souls to keep
out the enemy, and use the
weapons of warfare He has
given us.
He
has supplied all the armor
needed to be successful in
battle, but we must make sure
to
put on the whole armor of God
and go forth with his weapons
of warfare which are mighty.
The ways
of Satan are very subtle and
we are told he is out to
deceive and ensnare those who
fall
prey to his plans and
schemes. We should
always be on guard to protect
our souls
to
guard them from the contrary
winds and waves that may come
our way.
When
flood walls are put up and
closed in a city, they protect
the surrounding area from an
overflow
of water as they hold back the
rising waters. If they
are not strong, they
will
break and allow the water to
overtake other
areas. It is the
same way with our spirits.
We
must be sober and vigilant,
for our adversary is like
a roaring lion, seeking whom
he may
devour. Our strength
only comes through the Lord
and by his Spirit. If we
let Him be
Lord of our lives, he will
protect us and will be a wall
of fire about us and our
shield and
buckler.
Jesus
has called us by name and we
are his who formed and created
us. We are to have no
fear
as He is always near. He
has ransomed us by means of a
price and will also deliver us
from evil
when we remain in Him.
The fires or waters of trouble
will not consume us as we have
One Greater.
Fire
and water often speak of
calamity because of the fact
that one overwhelms and the
other
consumes. We know our
God is a "Consuming
Fire." When the
enemy comes in like a flood;
He
will be the fire which
consumes the enemy as he
guards his own.
We
can trust in the promises of
our Lord and know what he did
for those in days of old and
promised
in the future; He will do for
us. He is no respecter
of persons and if we abide in
Him
and let Him abide in us, we
can present our petitions to
the Father and expect an
answer by
faith. We serve an
"Awesome God" who
still walks on the water and
can calm the
troubled
waters of one's soul
today. He will not allow
the enemy's flood to sweep one
away
if they will obey and look to
Him. We can be assured
of his salvation if we
walk
in the Spirit of
the Lord and keep the
faith.
The
rocks may sometimes be sharp
along the way on this path we
walk, but the path is straight
and with each hurt or wound we
have a Healer and
Helper.
If
we look to Him, he will help
us avoid the stumbling blocks
along life's way, or use them
for
stepping stones to
greater victory. Looking
to Jesus is looking to
life. Never fear the
waters in the
floods of this life; but by
faith go forward with the
Living Water which
only
Jesus can give. His
water is life
everlasting! Thanks to
God for his faithfulness
in
his every promise. No,
we are never really alone in
this life. We
have one who walks with us and
will always be there.
He
has promised never to leave us
alone.
