Advanced Pattern:

¤Editing, molding, erasing shadow is you working your will upon the summoned pattern, actually modifying reality. This is required before you can use pattern to modify reality,even a little, in Amber.

Gate Shadow:
¤Gating shadow includes finding where you want to be (via pattern lens, sight, or trump) and altering the connections of reality to put you there, or there where you are (subtle difference.)
