I was chairperson of the house committee for 3 years and now I'm treasurer." "I will be at Washington State Park, N.J. on May 8th, representing the Hancock House at the state wide celebration of all the Parks in the state of New Jersey. I will be having dinner there that evening." "Sorry to miss all of you." |
Via telephone Carol reports- " After GS, I took my freshman year at Colby College in Maine. I then transferred to Goucher College where I subsequently graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Mathmatics. While there I was President of the Athletic Association and elected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities." "Following graduation I married Hank Winde. We lived in the Philadelphia area while he finished studys in the Business School at Drexel University. He had taken his first 2 years at Swarthmore College. I was employed as Assistant Engineer at General Electric Company. Following his graduation in 1959, Hank worked for Armstrong Cork Company in Lancaster, PA, and then in Cincinatti, Ohio where we lived for 3 years. Our first 2 children, Sally & Rick were born in Cincinatti. In 1962 we moved back to the Philadelphia area and our third child, Polly, was born in 1964. In 1965 Hank took a position in the Miami area where we lived for 1 1/2 years. In the summer of 1967 we moved to Baltimore. The house we bought then, in Ellicott City, is where I live today (our northern residence) . We, as a family, were very involved in the Ellicott City area (schools, YMCA, church & swim club). In 1975, after a long illness involving a successful heart valve replacement, followed by tragic complications, Hank died. The children and I stayed in the Ellicott area. The 2 girls remained in public schools and continued as nationally ranked swimmers. Both went to UNC on full swimming scholorships. Polly was fortunate to have been on the US Swim Team. Rich finished high school at St. James, in Hagerstown, and then received his degree at George Mason University. Rich is the image of his father in looks, interests and mannerisms." "In 1982 I married Ray Emerick. Hank & I had been good friends for years with Ray and his wife Lola (deceased) and their three sons. Ray owned, until this past year a wholesale florist business in Baltimore. Ray and I have been spending 6 months a year on Marco Island for 15 years, and are now Florida residents." "As for my children, Sally, my oldest lives in Cary NC , and is married to Jose Cortina, an attorney in Durham. They have 3 sons. Rick continues to live in Ellicott City with his wife Lynnette and 2 children. Hank(9),is named for his grandfather (Norman Henry Winde III). Rick is Director of Sales for Professional Products in Gathersburg, MD. Following college (UNC), my youngest, Holly, met and married BJ Surhoff .BJ plays baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. They have four children." "Over the years I volunteered for the girl scouts, US Swimming, YMCA, Historical Society, Garden Club and my church. This past winter I Chaired 2 outreach affairs at our church and served on the ECW Board. At my Alma Mater,Goucher College, I agreed to serve as Director on the AAGC Board for 3 years. I will be our 50th Reunion Chairman. For Fun, Ray and I enjoy golf, boating, traveling and being involved with our 13 grandchildren." |
