Ann Talbot

Following her graduation from George School in 1954, Ann studied English at Skidmore College, and Art at what was then called The Museum School in Philadelphia.  In 1960, she married and moved to El Paso, TX, where her husband was stationed at Fort Bliss.  In 1961, Ann gave birth a baby girl named Laurie, and by 1962, Ann and her small family moved back to the surburban Philadelphia area (Willow Grove and then Huntingdon Valley).  For the next 18 years, Ann busied herself with caring for her home and child, various dogs, cats, a raccoon, and some rabbits, and horses.  Ann and her husband parted company in 1980, at which point she was thrust into the corporate world, and started a 10-year career with Continental Bank in Fort Washington, PA . That career lasted until Continental was consumed by a larger bank, at which point Ann became a property manager for Penn's Grant Corporation in Doylestown, PA.  Several years later, she decided to pursue more creative employment, and has been working alternately with live plants for various nurseries and greenhouses (Meadowbrook Farm, Geerling's, Pine Run) AND  as a floral designer.  She is currently working as the Floral Department manager for The Rag Shop, a chain of craft and fabric stores.

During her years in Surburbia, Ann was active in fund raising for Abington Hospital, and started her own craft business, creating wreaths, baskets, and fresh and silk arrangements for weddings, small flower shops, and friends.  She also does calligraphy for weddings and other special events.  In 1999, Ann visited her father's home town in Southport, in England, and toured the Lake District and the north of England with her cousins, natives of Cumbria. A subsequent visit in 2000 to check out the real estate and job market started Ann thinking seriously about moving to England- a dream she'd had for quite some time. Currently, she's sticking close to family in PA, but is still considering a move.  In the meantime, much of Ann's time is spent caring for a continuous stream of homeless and feral cats, feeding birds, and tending to a beautiful garden at her Hatboro, PA home.
