Membership Classifications Membership Category  Annual Dues

Active Member  $150 A dentist who is licensed to practice in Virginia and who meets at least one of the following qualifications:            Is ethically qualified to announce as a specialist in periodontics according to the standards established by the American Dental Association and whose practice is limited to periodontics; or            Is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology; or Academic Member  $75 A dentist who is licensed to practice in Virginia and who meets at least one of the following qualifications:· Is engaged primarily in teaching and research in Periodontology (or is a full time academic who has transferred from a teaching to administrative position) with supplemental practice, if any, limited to periodontics. Affiliate Member  $0 A dentist who is continuously enrolled in a formal training program in periodontology approved by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association. Upon completion of training, an Affiliate member in good standing will be automatically transferred to Active membership in the Society if he meets the requirements for Active membership. Payment of current Active dues will not be required until the beginning of the fiscal year following his elevation to Active membership.
