Satovcha
The Physics and Astronomy teacher in High School of Satovcha, area Blagoevgrad, Silvina Adamova.
We turned the observation in a school feast. We had special preparation time during the Labour and Technics lesson, when the students made special glasses out of X-rays plate. Moreover, the teacher and a group of students (11th grade), who had chosen Physics as a complementary chosen subject, prepared information, regarding the bodies in the Solar System and the periods of some phenomena. This information was given to the students in the day of the observation. In the entrance hall of the school we put information boards with pictures and data, which we downloaded from the Internet.
The observation of the Venus transit occurred in the schoolyard. It took place between 10:30am and 12:30pm. Because of the clouds the Sun was not constantly visible, but in periods of 5-10 minutes each. About 200 students participated in the observation. When it was clear the disk of the Sun was seen very well. Venus was distinguishable as a black spot at the lower end of the disk, moving to the right. The clouds did not let us register the times of the contacts.
Unfortunately, we, the organizers, forgot to take any pictures of the event.
We will be glad to be included in an oncoming
observational event, at which we will make our best for a better
preparation.
