Silistra
Place
of observation
In Silistra, nine places (school yards) were chosen for public
observations and determination of the contacts.
Duration of the observation
According to data from the individual forms, the average time for the
beginning of the observations was 4:45 UT, and the end was at 11:30 UT.
Weather
In the beginning of the observations the sky was clear and it was
sunny, with mild western wind. After 10:00 UT broken clouds developed
and the wind became stronger, north-western. Alternation of the
temperature is registered from 24 to 29°C.
Number of the teams and members
Specially for observation the Transit, 15 teams, which included 93
students and 30 leaders were trained how to work with a telescope and
about the safe methods of observation the Sun. At a work meeting of the
physics teachers from the Silistra Region, carried out in the
Observaitory and organized by IO of the Ministry of Education, together
with the Union of the Physicists in Bulgaria-branch Silistra, they were
acquainted with the methods of observation and registration of the
contacts. All secondary and high scholl students witnessed the Venus

Interest was showed from citizens, state and municipal workers who
visited the observational places.
Number of observational instruments - 12 telescopes, 3 cameras and 2
binoculars.

Coverage
of the event in the media
School newspapers and wallpapers at some places described the history and the
importance of the transit. A month and a half before the transit in five consecutive
articles the citizens were informed about the fortcoming event. In three local
radio stations it was reminded how to safely observe the transit, what can be
seen and from where one can get additional information.
On the day of the event journalists from
local newspapers, cable television as well as from the national televisions
Kanal 1 and bTV made articles.
