Astronomical
Observatory and Planetarium-Varna
The Venus transit was observed from three observational terraces:
From the first terrace of the Observatory where the transit was projected with
a refractor Telementor 63/800 and shot with a video camera by the following
team: Mitko Slavov, Mitko Iliev, Fillip Todorov; telescope 100/1000 - the following
team engineer Maleshkov and Ivan Ivanov.
From the second terrace observed with a refractor Telementor 63/800 and a digital camera Nikon - Ilian Darganov (Astroclub Kanopus), with MTO 1000 - Borislav Petrov (NAOP - Varna), with a binocular TZK 80x8 - Petar Todorov.
The third terrace was actually the ground in front of the Observatory where projection on paper screen was used. There were three observational centers: a telescope Cometseeker - 80/500 with observer Kamen Todorov, a refractor Telementor 63/800 with observer Hristo Stoev and a Russian school telescope 60/600 with observer Eva Bozhurova. Fifteen students from the astronomy courses measured the contact times. Students from 6 schools in Varna visited the observational terraces - about 1000 students, altogether, 60 children from two kindergartens and lots of citizens and guests of Varna.
Students from astronomical courses showed the Venus
transit lessons, made by the European Association for Astronomy Education :-)
In front of the Observatory the students from the Observatory
performed the lessons of EAAE in theatrical shows "The Children of the Sun",
"Dynamic Transit Model" and "Venus' Zodiac". Many citizens
and children took part in the second and the third shows.
The youngest participants in the Transit observations from Varna Kindergartens.

The most active schools that observed the transit:
SOU "Liuben Karavelov" with leader Daniela Mateva, SOU "St. Kliment
Ohridski" with leader Violeta Stoianova, SOU "Al. Pushkin" with leader Svetla
Ivanova, Seventh SOU "Naiden Gerov" with leader Natasha Angelova, Textile
and Fashion Design High School with leader Ivan Dimitrov, OU "Arabadzhiev"
with teacher Neli Kasabova.
Professional Building Architecture and Geodesy
High School - two groups of six students 10th and 11th grade (17-18
years old) each with leader Katia Mareva observed the transit with a refractor
80/800 and with a Russian school refractor 60/600. They used projection
method and recorded the time of the third contact, they also took photos
of the transit. Along with them 350 students and teachers from the high
school observed the transit.
Journalists from the TV channels Kanal1, MoreTV, SKAT TV, TV Gunchev,
bTV, MSAT and the newspapers Cherno More, Chernomorie, Narodno Delo, 24 Hours,
Trud, Standart, Impactpressgroup and others witnessed the transit at the Observatory.
