Far and away the most coherent attempt at a big screen adaptation of a comic book character since Tank Girl. The viewer is immediately struck by the sheer intensity and duration of the carnage meted out throughout the film. The unrelenting ferocity of the action scenes coupled with the pulse-pounding music beat tend to at times overload your senses. This is by no means a bad thing. On the contrary: unlike some movies which lull you into a semi-comatose stupor, Blade immediately grabs you by the proverbial nuts and doesn't let go until the very end.
Wesley Snipes (Blade) opens up a hefty can of whoop-ass, directing his aggression toward Vampire populations everywhere with his ultimate goal being their extermination. On his quest he is confronted by Stephen Dorff (Deacon Frost) the Vampire responsible for his mother's death. Needless to say fisticuffs ensue!! Stellar performances also turned in by Kris Kristofferson and Traci Lords. Definitely one of the better Vampire flicks I've seen in a while!
