The following poem, written by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 227 member, Joe Celesnik, was written to commemorate all Americans who served their country. Their joint effort over our nations history reflects the ongoing dedication.

To quote Joe, "My brief experience of a war gave me a first-hand view of how, when need be, we work together, regardless of differences. So true the bonds we have. If necessary, I would gladly serve again. We are needed more than we realize."

Thus we have.....

Together
by S. Joe Celesnik

Remembering the Creator
Makes this country greater
Reach out, lend a hand
And stand for this land
People, ordinary too, paved the way
For our freedom today
We look at a new face
Question, will they take my place
Today, if no other day
Count the blessing's our way
I'm proud to say
I'm a veteran today
Welcome a veteran
Back home again
From me to you
May God bless you

The memorial will be located between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. VVA will be collecting contributions for this project until Veterans Day 1999. Contributions would be greatly appreciated.
