Valley View High School in Archbald,
PA is home to the Valley View Band. Composed of about 80 high school musicians, the group is collectively known as the "pride of Cougar Country." The Band is under the direction of Mr. James Orfanella. The Bandfront is moderated by Mrs. Mary Gowat.
The Band is not a singular body, however.
The two major performance groups are the marching and concert bands.
The marching band performs at every Valley View football game, as
well as in many area parades alongside the Valley View Bandfront.
The concert band performs two concerts a year as well as at graduation.
Outside of these groups, members can perform in various small ensembles
including jazz band, flute ensemble, brass ensemble,
and basketball pep band.
Last year, the Valley View Band performed
an Disney Magic Music Days in Orlando, Florida. In the past, the band has also performed in Boston, Washington D.C., and at Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida. For the season of the 2005-2006 band year the band students will be going to Orlando, Florida, and perform "March of the Belgian Paratroopers", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Piano concerto", "Low Rider", "Psycho(Prelude)", "Back to the Future", and "Music from the Incredibles" in Universal Studios. Good luck guys!
