Reported as ATR2(AC) and began working in CIC Office; then moved to PAO/PIO for majority of tour; lastly worked in Electronics Training. First flew as AEW/CIC/ECM augmentor on CO's TE1 and XO's TE2; then as ACICO on LCDR Easter's Crew 9 aboard BuNo 145939 TE9, "Malfunction Junction." Hung around with John "Pinocchio" Moehlenkamp, Chris "Super" Seal, Roy (Carter) Dynesius, John "Parson Brown" Mayne, Terry "Benny Shoes" Andrews, and Dave "Red Wings" Bernardi. What happened after I left?

Great site...!! But do I have to be reminded of how long it has been since I climbed aboard TE-04. I was on hand when the last(?) flying EC-121 was flown into Sacramento from Davis-Monthan for inclusion in the static displays at the McClellan AFB Aviati n museum. It was likely not a VW-1 aircraft, but it was a NAVY 121 and it sits over there defaced with Air Force colors and markings...oh well, I've won a few bets over it.

I am attending the 99 reunion-first timer. Need to know if there is a way to get help locating old crewmates I've lost touch with who are not on the roster.

Keep this going, its a real service to all VW-1 vets. 65-66 sure doesn't seem like 34 years ago until you are playing with grandkids whose parents were their age in 1965. Drop us an E-mail - anybody!

My time with VW-1 was some of the best of my life...then the Navy had to get payback by sending me to helicopters where I gained the distinction of being one of five known survivors of inverted flight in a helicopter before they designed them to do flips . After that, it was "So Long, Navy!!!" (If they'd just kept me in WV2's, I might have stayed around!!!)

My dad, Harry A. Bartz, had his duty station at VW-1 from 1964 to 1967. He and I attended the VW-1 reunion in San Diego 2 years ago. Hey guys....great job on updating the website. the overwhelming repsonse I have recieved is for the Cruise. I have reservation deposits for 56 sauadron mates at this point. I have just sent out a follow up mailer for those to send in the additional $7 .00 deposit for a specific cabin reservation. I hope that the mailer will trigger more to decide to join us. There has been considerable interest in Pensacola as well. I think people will always have an interest in Pensacola. I do believe our next re nion needs to go west however.
